If we don't take a Qb in the first, which Rookie QB do we take later?

Tom Savage day 3.

Quote:It's funny, I think just the opposite actually. I honestly see Bortles going number 1 to the Texans or he drops to the 2nd. Logically, I agree with everything you stated above. However, it appears that GMs have become so weary about selecting the wrong QB (non-franchise) that if one is not available, they won't spend their 1st rounder on a QB. Last year, there were a number of teams that needed a QB (bills, jags, cards, titans, browns, raiders, vikes) --- perhaps the difference this year is that the jags, browns, vikes, and titans all confirmed last season that their incombent QB was terrible. This would support your statement that all 3 will be gone prior to our 2nd round pick. Strange things happen on draft day. Manziel to the Cowboys would be crazy entertainment !!!
If we use a late round pick (5th - 7th) on a QB, I'd like to see what a Logan Thomas can do for us in preseason.
Player Overview (CBS) Thomas didn?t start playing football until the eighth grade and lined up at both receiver and quarterback in high school. He was ranked as the No. 1 prep tight end recruit and was recruited as a receiver, tight end and H-Back by college programs (only Duke wanted him to play quarterback). He somewhat reluctantly moved to quarterback shortly after arriving at Virginia Tech and redshirted in 2009 before serving as a back-up in 2010. Thomas took over for Tyrod Taylor as the starting QB in 2011 as a sophomore and flashed intriguing potential, but his production tailed off his final two seasons in Blacksburg ? didn't receive much help from the talent around him. He looks the part with his above average size, athleticism and arm strength, but his ball placement, touch and overall decision-making are strong red flags. He'll throw some beautiful passes, but made way too many freshman mistakes as a senior. Thomas is a hard worker and has a positive outlook, but needs to show continued confidence if he hopes to have a future at the position. He has all the physical tools, but he is admittedly still raw and developing ? will the rest every catch up? NFL ceiling is a question mark due to his inconsistency and unpolished feel as a passer, but he is worth a flier in the middle rounds. Crazy to take him that high, but on day 3 then yes Logan Thomas would make for a better pick later than a maxed out Murray/McCarron.

Fales,Murray , McCarron or Mettenberger are my choices.
Fales - 3rd or 4th Murray - late 3rd to 5th Mettenberger -2nd to 3rd McCarron - 2nd to 3rd Not really basing it off potential but where i feel they will be available. I really feel Fales is a possible sleeper and should be considered a late 2nd round prospect right along with Mettenberger and McCarron.
i really dont think not taking a qb in the first 2 rounds is an option. manziel, bortles, bridgewater, mccarron... i think one of those guys needs to be taken to have realistic hope in the future of the position.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Was at SC pro day earlier.. Bradley, Caldwell, Fisch, and Khan were all watching Shaw throw VERY closely and, of course, Shaw threw really well.
Shock the world
