Ranking the QBs after their Combine workouts

#41

Quote:No Garoppolo? I'd have him ahead of the likes of Thomas and Murray.
If I was ok with a Dalton/Schaub/Sanchez/Garrard type ceiling (which I'm not) then I'd take Garoppolo in the 4th round.  I would much rather get Logan Thomas then or hopefully a round later though because if he hits he's a star, if he doesn't it's clear pretty quickly and you try against with someone else.

Garoppolo will tease you into wasting years and years of your franchise on him thinking he'll take that next step when all he'll really be doing is being just good enough to keep you out of the elite draft picks but not winning you anything either.

This guy says that Bridgewater blew the Raiders away and is the top qb for them after this weekend

I feel like Manziel is so high because of the SEC Hype Train.

So far they have Teddy not being big enough, despite being every bit as bulky as guys like Brees, Dalton, Ryan, and many other NFL QBs weight wise. He can put on some more size, but to me they're trying to find stuff, which is fine, because it's their job.

With Johnny it's:

Well his personality sucks, but...

Well his release isn't always the same but...

Well he doesn't have a huge arm but...

Well he doesn't know how to slide but...

Well he takes off a little too much at times but...

Well he's short and doesn't weight that much but..

Too many buts, and the kid doesn't have a larger upside over Bridgewater. Bridgewater has all those questions answered. The only place Teddy needs to improve vs Bortles and Manziel is his deep accuracy. Watching Bridgewater though, he misses long when he misses. He's not short arming it to the defense.

I like Johnny as a college player, fantastic on the field, but if he plays for Oklahoma, or any school outside the SEC we're not having this conversation. We're asking where is he going in the 1st, and is that team willing to wait a nearly a full season for him to develop, same with Bortles.

You really don't have to sell Bridgewater around here.

Just saying. Already a lot of Bridgewater love going on, even from me. Eventually we'll see what NFL scouts think they're worth, and after that, who can actually play.

Touche touche

I am beginning to warm to cautiously warm up to Manziel as well

Manziel doesn't have character issues. No more than any other college kid. His just happened to be put under a microscope due to taking the nation by storm. Honestly, id bet my bottom dollar on him being a good locker room addition. However, i still think Teddy is the future of a franchise, I just hope he is our future

In all of my evaluation of Johnny, which alone makes him the 4th QB in this class to me, I haven't made any comments on his character. However...he does also have character issues for sure. Google 'topszn Johnny Manziel'. Johnny isn't doing a money sign when he's celebrating. Sure, he's doing what plenty of other college kids do...and those kids would have character concerns to the NFL too.

Is that really who you would want to be handing the billion dollar keys to your franchise to? It would be a really tough call, but I sure as heck wouldn't be making that gamble with my top pick.

1a. Manziel

1b. Teddy

2. Carr

3. Bortles

4. Mettenburger

5. Garropolo

6. Murray

7. Thomas

8. Matthews

9. Boyd

10. McCarron

Kodiak, I'm shocked you have Carr that high.

No way would I have him above Bortles or Garropolo.

Quote:Just going to guess that not many people will change the top of their rankings based on the combine.

Agreed. The combine shouldn't affect the rankings hardly at all. Trust the tape. Track and field stuff doesn't change who is going to be a good NFL QB.

Quote:1. Bridgewater

2. Manziel

3. Bortles

4. Mettenberger

5. Garoppolo

6. Carr

Everybody else

Going by that platform...here's mine...

1. Bridge

2. Manziel

3. Bortles

4. Garoppolo

5. Murray

6. Mettenberger

7. McCarron

unknown low number. Carr

Quote:I wasn't high on Carr as a #3 overall, but if they can get him with the second rounder I'm cool with that.

Not me, I don't like throwing picks as high as 2nd rounders away.

I'd rather use the 2nd rounder on Troy Niklas or DeVante Adams.

Do you know what exactly you got banned for? The mods made it seem like you were looking at a minimum 6 months.

huh? No, I hit my 4th warning. That carries a 30 day suspension. 6 month suspension is for a 5th warning.

Back on topic it seems like Garoppolo is gaining steam.

Bridgewater as bulky as Drew Brees? Really?

And why does Johnny's personality suck? Because he was acting like a college kid?
