The only reason there haven't been more is become their are more white QBs in general.. it's not really any more impressive than anyone else winning, it's just less common.

That is why I said it means nothing compared to what Derrick Coleman did. Coleman is only the third deaf player in NFL history and the first to play on offense. I can name a lot of black quarterbacks.

Quote:how high do we have to count before race no longer matters? It never really did matter. People just made up that idea because of all the racial barriers that were in place before Doug Williams won the Super Bowl.

Quote:So Russell being black means nothing? I am saying the fact that he is black only means Doug Williams no longer is the only black quarterback to start in a Super Bowl and win it. Skin color was a big deal for Williams because he was the first and many years ago blacks still struggled to get high-paying jobs. Now it is less important than it was back then. Quote:Surprised this wasn't more of a talking point leading up to the super bowl.Because they were too busy swinging on Manning's jock.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

It's a good thing that it wasn't a major topic in the Super Bowl media circus, that just shows how far we've come.
I do find it interesting that both the Doug Williams and Russell Wilson led teams routed the Broncos in their respective Super Bowl wins, besting two all time greats, Elway and Manning, in the process.

Russell Wilson could be purple for all I care. He's now got a Super Bowl ring, and we've got a punter.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Why do people say he's African American? He was born in Cincinnati that makes him American!

Quote:It's a good thing that it wasn't a major topic in the Super Bowl media circus, that just shows how far we've come. I never thought about that fact, but it is irrelevant. What matters is the Broncos lost, period. I have to agree it was good the media did not make Russell Wilson's race a big game story.
Quote:Why do people say he's African American? He was born in Cincinnati that makes him American! It is like the people we call Indians calling themselves Native Americans. It is a pride thing. They have their own culture. I am sure you would agree it is much better than a word that starts with n and ends with r. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Surprised this wasn't more of a talking point leading up to the super bowl. As a black man, thank god. It'll only be an issue, good or bad, when people bring it up. I hope we're progressing as a society far enough that it doesn't have to be a topic anymore. "It's alive because through these things, we keep it alive"
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Ive never once thought about RW being a black quarterback? He's just a quarterback.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Ive never once thought about RW being a black quarterback? He's just a quarterback. Yep. I don't care what color Russell Wilson is. In fact when he was at Wisconsin, I did not think about it. While watching him play against the 49ers in his rookie season, I thought, "He is black?" That is when I really noticed how dark he is. And I usually notice stuff like that immediately. |
