Quote: As much talent as the Cubs have, one thing that's been evident on this end is the excellent job Manager Joe Maddon has done with the team. Yet, as important as Managing is in MLB, Coaching is probably more important in the NFL than on any professional sports level.

In some ways, the Jaguars PLAN in 2013 was similar to the Cubs plan in trying to build with youth and complimenting that with veteran signings. If the Jaguars end up with the NFL version of Joe Maddon, maybe everything will come together for the team in the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Several people (I think a few on the board even) tried to discount how much a manager Joe Maddon can help and change a team. It's more than just a few W/Ls, it's the daily little things and the attitude he has built in that clubhouse. It has been fantastic to watch the culture that he and Theo Epstein have created. I agree wholeheartedly that is most important in the NFL. We saw it recently with teams like the Chiefs and Andy Reid or the Eagles going from Chip to Pederson. It may a little early with the Eagles but there are other examples. Better coaching absolutely can turn a team around.

I can only hope and pray that happens with the next coach here D6. That might be the most frustrating part of this season for me. I feel like while this roster isn't the best, it is far better than the results we are seeing. With better coaching I think this team would run away with such a poor division this year.

Quote:I am hoping we learn something from the Eagles. It seems the Eagles can get to the playoffs more often regardless of the status of the team. I think this is because they know how to play their division. They may not have the best record and at least make the wild card in the worst of years.

If we can succeed in the second half in our division, and win a one or two more outside the devision, we may have a chance at the playoffs. This may not bode well for any Bradley nay-sayers, but I think that decision was already made, last year with Khan's decision to keep him for another year prior to the press asking the question.

Man what? Eagles? That team has never won a super bowl and their last playoff win was when we had our last playoff win.

@ProFootballTalk Titans will be down two defensive backs against Jaguars https://t.co/XkvymR0Tfu

Time for a 20 yard game for AROB.

Quote:Perhaps a short week will HELP us. Thats less time for the coaches to prepare and make a game plan.

I think there is some truth in that.

Less days to prepare is less time to scheme over Gus.

There is no reason to think such a thing if you are a Jaguars fan.

The sooner you realize you don't govern other fan's fandom, the better.

There are more than one way to support the team.

Not everything is so black and white.

Scarecrow, especially with the Texans injury situation, I believe the Jaguars have the best talent in the AFC South. Even if the youth factor on Defense is factored in, at the very least the Jaguars should be serious contenders in the AFC South. I totally understand and respect your football frustration as a fan of the team.

Though the Jaguars shouldn't limit their next HC search in terms of needing a specific criteria, the ideal situation for the team seems to be hiring an NFL HC with experience in that position, someone who's more of a disciplinarian than the team has had since Tom Coughlin, and someone who has a strong plan for Blake Bortles to have the best possible coaching.

As bad as things look around here we've always been able to win our share against the stinkin Tacks. They barely beat the Browns and lost to the Colts. I think if we even care about winning we should win this game.

No pain, no gain.
