At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
 

It's a QB league. If you don't have one you are screwed and we don't currently have one. The higher you are in the draft the better you are equipped to solve that problem, especially in a weak class like this.   

Winning today doesn't make that impossible (always good to beat a Florida team) , just makes it harder and when you have a front office that can't evaluate the QB position you wanna make it as easy as possible for them to get the job done.  

I don't agree that we could easily bring in a vet or make a big trade to fix the position for the next 5 years.

Foles gets like 20 million a year and probably a deal set up like 4 years with a team option after the 2nd year.

I completely get the logic of tanking and I agree that QB is going to be the top priority and who knows what the FO are thinking. They may have someone they like or think they can get and that may have an effect on the OC. 

My main points are I want a QB who fits what we are trying to build in terms of O. Do we want a big arm slinger? Do we want accurate short to mid throws? Do we want a mobile QB? I think when we decide what we want them to do, they seem to want to stay with a strong focus on running, it becomes a lot easier finding what your looking for. I don't want A QB just because we drafted him #5, does he have the skill set were looking for.

My other point is I hate making losing acceptable or a better choice. This teams last 15 years have been awful and no team should be bad for that long. The game is designed to help improve bad teams and we have never had a 5-6 year span of being one of the better teams in the league. After the success of last season and many players talking of turning a corner, I worry about the long term effects to a team like ours when a 3 win season is OK as we'll draft a guy to replace one of you. 

I may be over reacting but I've lost count of how many times we've only been x away.

The aim should be the to get the best QB possible and then fit your offense around him, regardless of how he plays.  The skillset doesn't matter much unless they are good enough. 

We aren't just a QB away, it's just the most important part of the puzzle that will improve every aspect of our performance.

I'm not angry we won. I despise the tanking concept.  
I'm not annoyed we're at #9 right now either.  I think we'll end up with a free shot at a really talented player, and probably one of the top two QBs. 

I've also seen not a single poster on the board state that a rookie QB is the answer to all the problems. 

I do think that the Jaguars absolutely, beyond a shadow of any doubt, unequivocally, MUST draft a QB early in this draft.  It's obviously not an easy fix to the long list of issues to be addressed, but the most important player position on the team must be addressed and the team would have to cripple their defense to afford a high priced free agent. Drafting the next guy is the financially wise way to work toward the fix.

I acknowledge that I enjoyed the Jaguars beating the fish and extinguishing whatever flicker of playoff hope they had.  But it hurts our draft position.

My question to you is why must we "draft a QB early?"

Unless they have some sort of bead on a guy that projects later. Seems risky in this crop, though. 
(I don't think Grier falls to the second like many do)

I'm no draft guru by any stretch - but the little bit of armchair analysis I've done makes it seem there are 4 top prospects - two of them look like they may be potential starters at some point in their rookie years. Again - that's a very amateur analysis of what I see from this QB class right now.  (it's still early) 

If the Jags don't spend big on a FA QB (and I don't think they will) then getting a rookie that can get on the field sooner than later will be very valuable given their other prospects at the position. 

That - to me - means taking one early.

I just really hate the concept of intentionally losing games, and I can't bear to root for my team to lose. So on a day like today I root for my team to win, but I don't get upset if they lose.

What if it took cutting a guy like Cambell along with the obvious ones of course, means we could get Foles and still draft a QB early?  I really think that would be the best route.  I'd really like to keep Campbell but if that's what it takes to get Foles I would do it

I think Foles is going to command a $90+ million deal.  

It's gonna take more than cutting Campbell - and it'll adversely affect the potential of keeping Ramsey/Ngakoue/Jack.
I mean, if they can work some sorcery that doesn't cripple our defense - I'd love for Foles to play for the Jags next year.

I am so used to losing it really didn't matter to me. Now if we had absolutely anything to play for and didn't need a quarterback in THIS draft in the worst way by all means win. If we needed any other position it would be a diff story. Q B is always overdrafted.. Sign me up for wanting to lose next week. That win didn't get me excited at all. I would rather have the best possible chance to secure the future of the franchise or at least give hope to getting better than win a few trivial mean nothing games at the end of a lost bitter season.

I could see us going after Foles and cutting Bortles but if we did that I dont think we would draft a QB early.  We would make Foles our future QB

Bortles could be as low as a 5 mil. cap hit next year if a team were to sign him for 6.5 mil. I think he needs to start next week and hopefully he balls out to where a team will sign him. The more he makes next year with another team the more it saves us, up to 6.5 mil
