Would you trade a first?

#41

Quote:I actually might trade a first for Newton or Wilson. I imagine we would be able to get a quick positive return on our investment just flipping him to another team. And if it takes a bit, well, either one would be a marginal improvement over Henne as a backup. (cough)
you serious? Newton or Wilson would never be traded by Car / Seattle. They are both all pro qb's. And no one would give up the amount of 1st round picks to take them...

Well, yeah. Of course not. But I didn't say they would trade with me. I replied to a comment where someone else said they wouldn't trade a first for anyone in the league. As to your second part, you telling me we couldn't get a king's ransom? Heck, you know we would get more than what was given up for unproven rookies in this last draft.

Didn't we trade away Monroe halfway through the season, how'd that work for the Ravens? I know it wasn't a first.

This.

Herschel Walker was traded after game 5 in 89, Eric Dickerson was traded at Halloween in 87 and Roy Williams went to the Cowboys in Oct of 08. All for 1st rounders. So it has happened before. Just not likely.

I would just be ecstatic to be 6-2.

The only player that might be available that is worth a first is Von Miller and if the Jags are doing pretty well, then their pass is doing fine.  Other positions that might need a boast LT, LG, back up TE there isn't anyone that is out there that is worth a first.  I could see trading a lower pick though.

Can never have enough pass rushers. If you get the chance to trade a 1st for a 27 year-old Miller, I would do it and not blink (assuming you can sign him to a contract). They were already expecting to spend serious $$ on Vernon in the offseason, so why not spend that on someone that actually puts up double digit sacks.

Nope. Looking ahead into next year's draft we stand to potentially gain a solid OT if needed. But if you trade away a quality 1st RD pick mid-season for a LT it makes you look bad for picking up Beachum to begin with. And, if we're 6 - 2. Can't be all that or something amiss over there at LT I'd imagine. If we walk out of the first eight games with a 6 - 2 record I'd be amazed. Because just looking at the first four made me pretty sick to my stomach. I could see us maybe going 1 - 3 or even 0 - 4 during September.

Only way I see it happen is if injury was an issue per say(Joke and Beachum out for year) and the Browns are 0-8 and the Browns put Joe Thomas on the trade block for a 1st, I would consider it. If you are 6-2 and your 2  LTs are hurt that would be the only way to even consider a trade, let alone a 1st rounder at that.

At this point I probably wouldn't trade a first for anything other than a premium pass rusher.

I can't believe no one has mentioned that at 6-2 the trade deadline has passed.

Quote:Hypothetically, we are 6-2 at the midway point. The playoffs seem imminent. However, LT is still a glaring weakness. Would you trade a first for a quality LT? Would you add that piece to try to bolster that offensive line. Just having a discussion about it. I said I would, because it could elevate us and bring security to the line. My friend said he wouldn't mess with success and try to build through the draft for a smoother infusion in the team. Which I absolutely understand. Hard to argue that. What would you do?
Nope, if we made it to 6-2 our LT is good enough.

It was extended to week 8 a year or two ago I believe.

My point exactly, back on the first page. How did we get to 6-2 if the LT needs to be replaced? That would probably be one of the best records in the league and more than likely leading the South.
