WELP: Norman

#41

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson tweeted "Know your worth......" earlier but later on removed it.

Josh Norman had the lowest opposing QB Rating average, and rated as best corner by ProFootball Focus.

Yet Josh is seeking more than Revis 14 million a year, and some say he's a scheme guy & not a shutdown corner.

the scheme was pretty friendly to cbs. Not that he isnt a great cb but he was definitely being protected by safeties a lot.

In order to sign CB Josh Norman GM Dave Caldwell will have to pay a 28 year old corner a couple more million a year than 25 year old CB Peterson (whom is a better true shut down corner) along with $40 million guaranteed.

Yet... Jaguars have the cap space, and have the need for a great proven healthy corner (that isn't suspended)!

I can see why he doesn't do the deal (especially if Josh doesn't want to come here), and I can see why he does...

I guess we wait... and find out

Well said.

I usually laugh at the we should sign everyone crowd.

BUT this is a unique circumstance. Make the move and upgrade the D with a stud.

@jasoncole At least 8 teams have expressed interest in ex-#Panthers CB Josh Norman. Among those are #Bucs, #Dolphins, #49ers, #Rams and #Bears.

Why do these writers keep saying at least 8 teams have contacted Norman and then listing 4 or 5 teams lol.

The shark was responsible for the missing other teams.

Of course the 'Fins would be in on this. they are pros of spending in the offseason and losing during the actual season.

How the hell are the Dolphins in the mix? Are they stupid?

Short answer? Yes.

Edit:  Yes Miami isn't thinking clearly, but apparently either am I... (midnight confusion)

Jaguars $78.9M

Raiders $74M
Bears   $60M

Giants  $58.2M
49ers   $56.8M

I would make sense for Bears & 49ers whom have the money to spend.

-------------------------

Even after giving out $74.4 million in guaranteed money since March 9, the Jaguars still have the most cap space available ($53.66 million). So they could easily fit Norman into the cap even at the rumored number of $16 million annually. Norman is an elite corner and would pair well with free safety Tashaun Gipson. The duo would give the Jaguars a young, ball-hawking nucleus for years to come. It also would allow the Jaguars to concentrate on taking a pass rusher in the first round of next week's draft instead of potentially going with Jalen Ramsey if he were available at No. 5. GM Dave Caldwell will certainly send out a feeler. -- Mike DiRocco ESPN

Quote:They are thinking Josh Norman opposite of Brent Grimes with Brice McCain in nickel is going to increase Suh & Vernon's chances of getting at the QB

The problem is they had very bad cap space when they went out and signed Vernon now how can they truly afford to sign Josh?

back in Feb the teams with the most cap space were

Jaguars $78.9M

Raiders $74M
Bears $60M

Giants $58.2M
49ers $56.8M

I'm confused by your post. Grimes isn't on the Dolphins and neither is Vernon. Did I misread something. Also why is the cap you posted from before FA. It is pretty much useless information now.

I am going to cry in excitement if we get Norman. That means we can take a pass rusher or linebacker with our pick.

um, josh norman is the real deal... plays elite man coverage... the most coveted thing by a cornerback... he is confident and cocky, also important at CB.

this has to be something we go all in on... he's 28... that's fine.. if he was already 30 that would be different..  this guy is legit, not a product of a sytem, sure good players around him helped, but he is not a product of a system.. thats ridiculous.

anyone who can cover in man coverage like he does, is not a product of anything except his own skills.  Get this guy, please

@JasonLaCanfora Norman's camp is all about exceeding $14M/yr average. Still shooting for $15M. Don't seem as caught up in total guaranteed $
