Quote:Why do you think Cook is better than Fournette?

Basically because I think there are around 8 areas that are important for running backs. The way I look at it is Cook is better at more of them and more versatile as running back. His red flags are a bit too much though

Speed- Cook

Agility- Cook

Acceleration- Cook

Vision- Cook

Receiving- Cook

Power- Fournette

Blocking- Fournette

Ball security- Fournette

I can see how people would argue that Fournette's on field limitations are going to hurt him more in the NFL than Cook's will.

Fournette's lack of shotgun ability is a big drawback in a league where offenses are a shade over 70% base shotgun.

If you're going to take Fournette at 4, you don't put him into the same crappy sputtering shotgun offense we've been running, you build around him. Get yourself a fullback, get under center, and smash it on in there. A 3 year NFL starter can handle a 3/5 step drop.

Calling Deshawn Watson a future bust since 3/19/17. If I eat crow, I will keep this in here and proclaim JackCity a genius.

I don't have good news for his between the tackles numbers for you either. Despite his size he is not a run it up the middle "smash it on in there" type of RB.

Except when every team knows what youre doing based on personnel and alignment because your RB cant do anything but run straight with a fullback.

Wew lad.

No, those were alarming for a different reason though.

I'm talking about Barfields adjusted yards per carry stats. Fournette was like an insane 3 yards per carry higher than everyone else on sweeps, exactly NCAA average (not average of draft dudes, but everyone even the guys bagging groceries now) on traditional under center between the tackles runs, and a full half yard below average on shotgun carries.

McCaffrey is the best in this class. Then Fournette.

Yes... yes you would.

It's interesting that when it comes to speed, and as fast as Cook obviously is on tape... Fournette timed virtually the same 4.5 flat that Cook did.

Also, I feel like a few more categories can be added to account for Fournette's abilty to just make everyone around him look so small and insignificant.

The hate for Fournette is strong with you ky haha. I'm not going to respond to the other clown, he adds nothing but vitriol to every thread.

I'm just following the evidence, the evidence is what doesn't like him.

I think if you go digging with an answer in search of evidence, you can usually find what you are looking for. I think there is danger in getting too lost in the weeds of these kinds of narrow stats that you never see the forest through the trees. I've seen you trash on or downplay about every aspect of his game. If I were new to football and I knew nothing, and I listened to you, I would think he would go undrafted cause he sucks at everything. Clearly experts see something in Fournette that you don't or he wouldn't be near the top of every mock draft. I do think it is a fair to question whether to take a RB at 4 though, especially if there is a runningback by committee situation, so I see that.

Mixon is the best RB in this class IMO. Patience, speed, power, and he is a major threat in the passing game. I would much rather we grab him in the 2nd than waste the 4th overall on Fournette.

I do have questions for pretty much every aspect of his game except for once he gets to the second level. I think both the analytical and the visual evidence backs that up too.

The old school box score and highlight video experts disagree obviously, but a large percentage of the cutup/analytic experts have McCaffrey and/or Mixon at the top of the RB class.

I've watched a ton of cutups and I have not found a single one of those. Can you show me something?

You ever see one of those backs who does everything at an okay or good level but they still suck because none of their talents are freakish enough to raise an eyebrow. Some of these guys remind me of Yeldon. Decent size but wont run you over, decent to good speed, good receiver, maybe even an average blocker, makes guys miss at the college level, and has great college tape... gets to the pros and can't beat anyone at anything, just sucks. They check all the boxes but in the end they aren't productive players.
