To be honest, no. I think you would get similar play, minus the botched snaps, at a marked up price. Signing a guard and then giving Cann a shot at center would likely be a better option.

His contract was set up so we can get him again if the Browns matched, we still need a C. This talk about moving Cann or Linder to center is more of not showing your hand and keeping your options open.

He is only 30 and as we know by Messter a center can play til they are in their late 30's, we showed him love before no reason to think we will pass this time with even more money

Knowing that Bklyn agrees with me has me changing my mind...but....he did not play that well this year. He was coming off the injury and just didn't play that great. I would have loved to have him two years ago, but we're at a different time and place. Honestly, I'd rather have the guard from Kansas City and move either Linder or Cann over to center. That's just kind of my line of thinking on this one.

I'm kind of with you. 2 years ago I was gaga over the idea, now, meh.....I feel like we can get a good player there by utilizing these amazing draft picks and seeing what they can do. Getting a good guard in FA might be easier.

Nothing's changed for me, still a pass. At 10+ mil/yr there is just no upside to signing him, he has to play at an elite level and he hasn't played at an elite level in 2 years. It's almost all break even or downside, and that's not a wise investment.

Draft Kelly at 38 if he's there, or move along with Cann or Linder to C and sign one of the plethora of young, very good guards on the market.

All of that said, I think Dave is going to make a pretty hard push for Mack.

Our offense is young enough, I rather add a vet player then adding another rookie to start

Rather its Mack or Jeff Allen or another OL FA

I'd also be more inclined to get a veteran o-lineman for the LG or C spot. Joeckel is young, Cann is coming off a rookie campaign, Linder is solid but also very young. For someone on that left side next to either Joeckel or Cann, I think getting someone with experience would be best route. We can still draft a guard in the mid rounds, but I'd prefer to go at it the way we did with Cann where we slid him behind Linder and if he got a shot and excelled he'd get the spot. I'd rather have a guy that can develop than thrust a new guy in, because Beadles needs to be cut.

Mack was selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl.

Also, I have a real gut feeling Dave signs him. It makes a ton of sense. I really don't see any reason we wouldn't.

Didn't matter for the Cowboys when Fredrick was inserted into a very young oline and just dominated right away. Kelly is the same way, day 1 plug and play pro bowl level C IMO.

I can almost guarantee Mack would play up to his value if we sign him. I'm all for it. A veteran center with his talent can make a lot of difference.

Cowboys had a veteran team, Romo, Witten, Dez Bryant, Murray and needed to get younger on the OL, we have a bunch of 2nd and 3rd year players stars on offense.
