What is the problem with this team after halftime?

#41

It's all the coaching staff's "changes" that seem to cause the 2nd half issues. It's the only explaination. This team currently does not know how to make corrections to win games and it shows. Sunday's game should have been a win. I'm still so disappointed that we couldn't come up with the W. So many chances and so many opportunites to win; and yet, we still play like the past team's we're so wanting to distance ourselves from.....

Bortles has two primary receivers- A-Rob, and Hurns, and almost no one else.  I like Walters.  The guy catches everything that's thrown at him.  He's good at the intermediate catch, and that's something Bortles (and the team) could use.

Quote:It's starting to become a pattern.  Great play in the first half, then fall flat in the second, particularly on offense.

Bortles looked amazing in the first half, but fell off after halftime. Again. Why?

I'm not discouraged by what I've seen in Blake. His first half shows what he can do, the kind of QB he can be.  But there has to be adjustments.

What adjustments do you think the coaches and Blake could make to continue his success in the second half of the game?
other teams are adjusting their gameplan while Bradley is passing out ice cream cake.  It's clear as day we get out coached

The defense seems to make enough adjustments to at least keep us in the game, however the offense either makes no adjustments what so ever or makes terrible adjustments every single week. On the bright side Yeldon did have his first 100 yard game of the season.

Everyone's feeling lethargic after their halftime sundae party.

Quote:There is a common misconception on half-time adjustments that you take what went wrong in the first half and adjust on the fly.

You just do not have the time, and our players are way too young to make those changes in the 15 minutes at halftime, when you have to get to the locker room, check injuries, often re-tape some players, and then talk about adjustments.

We're not talking about implementing an entirely new playbook at halftime.  An adjustment can simply be to focus on a TE when the Carolina LB goes out in the 1st half with a concussion.   An adjustment can be blitzing Tom Brady when you realize giving him 10 seconds to throw the ball is killing your defense.

One thing that may factor in a lot is that in the first half of games we tend to get in a decent mix of running the ball whereas the run game has been largely abandoned in the second half of games.

Why is that? T.J. Yeldon can split carries with whoever his backup is (normally Denard Robinson) if we gets gassed. Coaches should stick with what works, which in the first half was mixing up play calls.

I like Walters too. He catches everything. Maybe after he has been on the team longer, he will get more targets in a game. But don't forget Julius Thomas will be a big playmaker when he gets healthy.

Walters is an ideal third receiver imo. Not big, not fast, but he'll catch anything you put near him.

Quote:There's an ice-cream party at half time. Bradley is real big on the " Ice-Cream Philosophy. "

You just have to do your job, not well or good, just do it. Oh, and guys, get better while you're at it! I don't really know how you're going to get better, but try to!

"Now lets go out there and compete man! That's what it's all about man! Let's not change anything up, its been working great man... Keep it tight on THREE! ONE, TWO, THREE! KEEP IT TIGHT!"
