If you choose the path you're on eventually it will be your speech that's censored. The best disinfectant for heinous thoughts is sunlight in the Public Square. Sure you can, don't you do it against those rotten liberal American citizens you guys were talking about deporting just a bit ago? Sure you do, you're just ok when you do it. Sounds pretty familiar actually, like the other side of a coin. There is no caveat to political speech. You can even say completely un-American things like clamor for censorship of 1st Amendment rights and not be arrested for it. Sauer responded with “The regime you've described is the one we've operated under for over 240 years.” Why do liberal Justices believe they can change the way this entire country operates? Agreed, but an anti-Israel or pro-Palestine protest doesn't always say "death to Jews". Also, "Death to Hamas" is not hate speech, but "death to Gazans" or "death to Palestinians" is hate speech. So we also walk a fine line.

“After listening to arguments at the Supreme Court, it’s clear the justices will narrowly hold the President of the United States—any president—is immune from criminal prosecution for official (not personal) acts," the Article 3 Project's Legal Analyst @mrddmia said in an official statement. "Additionally or alternatively, the Court will reaffirm criminal statutes do not apply to the President, unless they are explicit. The Court will remand Jack Smith’s January 6th case to DC Obama Judge Tanya Chutkan for an evidentiary hearing. Her decision is immediately appealable to the DC Circuit, and the Supreme Court could take the case again before trial." "The Court’s likely holding will also substantially affect Fani Willis’ January 6th case—and may affect Jack Smith’s presidential-records case. And the Supreme Court’s Fischer decision on obstruction will likely destroy two of Jack Smith’s four January 6th charges against Trump. Only 20% of Jack Smith’s January 6th case will remain. The case will not get tried before the election." “Bottom line: This will become a historic win for President Trump—and the presidency and our country. This is a big step toward undoing the Democrats’ republic-ending lawfare and election interference against President Trump." "More legal analysis from Mike Davis: “Biden is attempting to establish a dangerous precedent that presidents can face prosecution for their official acts. If presidential immunity doesn’t exist, then a Trump 47 Justice Department could prosecute Barack Obama for capital murder for ordering a drone strike on two American citizens, one of whom was a minor. Joe Biden could also face prosecution for his illegal mass-parole of millions of illegal immigrants—and their resulting crimes. George Bush and Dick Cheney could face prosecution if they lied to drive us into the Iraq War. This is not a path we want to go down as a country. This unfounded assault on Joe Biden’s chief political opponent is a grave threat to our system of government."

I'm fine with that, that's not what I'm arguing. I'm a free speech absolutist. I will not stand for censorship in the political arena, even of ideas I personally find abhorrent. Once we start down that road we all end up being silenced. I'd rather let the Mikesezs of the world blather on so everyone can see how bad the ideas are. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Moments ago at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, hundreds of students, pro-Palestine protesters, and other activists gathered in large numbers where Georgia police are making mass arrests, tasering people, launching tear gas, and reportedly firing rounds of rubber bullets at crowds and protesters. Activists and students have set up a Gaza solidarity encampment at the university. The number of arrests is not known at this time, along with clashes where bottles and other items are being thrown at police. The comment came after Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh cornered Dreeben by asking him about presidential immunity and why Obama was never prosecuted. Dreeben said the drone strikes were totally fine because the "Office of Legal Counsel looked at this very carefully."

Alito: “If an incumbent who loses a very close, hotly contested election and knows that a real possibility after leaving office is not that the president is going to be able to go off into a peaceful retirement, but that the president may be criminally prosecuted by a bitter political opponent, will that not lead us into a cycle that destabilizes the functioning of our country as a democracy?” https://twitter.com/IanJaeger29/status/1...PFP8A&s=19 "I am concerned about future uses of criminal law to target political opponents based on accusations about their motives."

As the men were fighting, the bus continued down the road and eventually crashed into a building. Harrison tried fleeing the scene but was caught by police and arrested. Thankfully, the driver was fine besides minor injuries including bumps and bruises. |
