Shad 'Tom gave me the two best choices and Doug was one of those.'

Speculation is inevitable on who the other option Tom Coughlin really liked.

Quote:Is it just me or Doug's answer about defense and staff implied that he's looking to bring in also different coordinators?

He said "we let some people go, we have some people on board but we are looking at bringing in the best possible people and minds to have success."

They're leaving no stone left unturned, it's what the most successful franchises and corporations do, no more of this crony system (like Gus ran) where you're hiring only your buddies.

Coughlin just said "basically that will remain internal" when asked about players. Get used to that. #ASJax

Coughlin unwilling to discuss individual players at this point and stated "that stuff will remain internal."

Marrone tells story of wanting job on Coughlin's B.C. staff, calling his hotel room in Florida at bowl game. TC said send resume, hung up.

I honestly didn't know how I was going to feel until I heard this press conference.

I'm loving all this. Coughlin makes this whole deal feel so much better.

Also, no coordinators set yet and it looks like they are looking for the best staff. This just feels right.

I'm absolutely on board with that and personally I'd really love a new DC especially.

Jags coach Doug Marrone affirms what Coughlin said, "Obviously, Blake is our quarterback."

That's OK.

He picked a bad HC his first go 'round and landed a project QB in the first round. This is where it left him. With a boss to answer to who will be in the HOF one day.

Not a bad place to be IMO.

Even if that's the case, it sounds like the plan is for Blake Bortles to have the opportunity to demonstrate whether he will be the team's long term QB.

That was the best press conference i seen by Jags staff in a long tom. I love tht tom said it won't be easy, and he wants to bring winning back ti jvill. he also said if it was easy anyone could do it.

The fact Tom thanked the fans for thier support was awsome too. Same goes for doug saying he feels the fans pain.

No playe or coach will be deemed as "untouchable" under this regime, that's absolutely crucial for creating a competitive environment

Marrone: I hope players are watching this and understand they need to be working right now. I have high expectation, standard for players."
