Steelers/Ravens GameDay Thread

One can only hope that the "heads up" program will be enough to cover their butts. The way things are now the game is nearly unwatchable.

Pit sucks. We beat them if Bortles is starting by then

Bortles will start when he learns how to break down game tape of professional defenses, improves his footwork and knows the playbook backwards and forwards. Look at the bright side; when he finally is ready to play we'll have something special for a long time.

Ugh.  Pitt looks horribad.  Had to start Big Ben this week because Rivers is playing against Seattle.  Bad week for my fantasy teams Sad

I picked a great week to play against Pittsburgh DST and Antonio Brown. On my way to 2-0!

Well not impressed with Pitt but Baltimore looks like a tough out. It's going to be fun to see how the Jags come out against the AFC North.

Quote:Ridiculous. Ben was moving and got blindsided and they call roughing the passer.

What really bugged me about that call was Ed Hochuli called it a hit to the head. Courtney Upshaw's helmet hit Ben Roethlisberger's chest. That is exactly what he was supposed to do.

Looked like face mask to the chest which is a legal hit. I understand the NFL wanting to protect the most valuable player on the field, but some of the penalties I've seen are absolutely ridiculous.

Quote:checking in, I have the Baltimore place kicker on my fantasy team.  I'm hoping this is a FG fest!

Is it me, or does the crowd seem... subdued....

Subdued? I heard them singing and saw thousands of third down signs.

That is exactly what it was. Maybe Hochuli meant you can't use your helmet to hit the ribs, which would be understandable if players were not taught to do that in practice.

Takeo Spikes was once asked what he thought was a "textbook" tackle. His response? "I try to put my face mask on the opposing players heart and I drive them as hard as I can to the ground." Do that today and it's a penalty and a fine.

Jim Nantz and Phil Simms agreed the penalty on Troy Polamalu was the right call. It was the one on #23 they weren't sure about.

Quote:Wait Steve Smith Sr. just got up and spun the ball. Thought that was a penalty this year.

The "new" penalty this year is slam dunking the ball over a crossbar.

Just re-read the rule. They have to spin the ball at an opposing player to draw the penalty.

I thought if you used the ball as a prop.....
