We know the emphasis on 6 drops are being made but how many dirt balls were thrown? How many were air mailed since we're taking count? Tipped and batted down balls at the line? How many were thrown at a defenders chest?

QBs are going to miss passes along the way during a game.  Some of Hennes misses were just errant throws, but there were also balls he put in the turf because that was his only option.  One in particular where he had Barwin tracking him on a rollout and nobody was open.

Chad Henne has played this way for 7 years. It isn't hard to figure out. The team continuing to trot him out at QB is going to become a slap in the face of the fans before long as well as Bortles has shown for himself. We've suffered for too many years with the likes of Gabbert and Henne. If the franchise #3 pick wasn't here on the roster or he looked incompetent in preseason I would get it but he didn't. He has shown every sign imaginable that he's ready and capable of handling the situation. Forgive me for not buying in to everything the team says. I did that in the past and it was often the wrong choice.

Actually the first half was a lot like Gabbert in some ways, too.

 

Remember the first 20 minutes or so of the game against Oakland in 2012? Practically the same as Henne yesterday, right down to the under thrown deep pass that went for a TD anyway.

Henne in the second half wasn't that bad.  The running game, offensive line, WR, and TE played worse than Henne.  Those timeouts are not Henne's fault, it was the other 10 guys who couldn't get in the right position.

 

Henne was looking off defenders and making good throws throughout the game.  Even Manning makes bad throws, but no matter what the receiver has to bail out the QB, NOT the other way around.

 

I do find that Henne could have looked downfield more which meant a lot of receivers were sprinting across the field and never had a chance, but that was the biggest weakness I saw from Henne.

If those drops wound up catches, his stats would have been better.  Didn't happen. 

 

Calling your starting QB efficient isn't what I would consider to be a compliment.  Especially when they're talking about how they want the offense to be more aggressive.  Efficient may buy him another start or two, but I think you're seeing the first signals that change is coming. 

 

As far as doing a good job with decision making, he didn't have any picks.  He didn't make the typical boneheaded mistakes that are his trademark.  He got lucky on a couple of passes that COULD have wound up interceptions, but at least for his sake, the stat line looks decent enough. 

 

Yep, this is what I was going to say.  It's like telling your wife that an outfit looks good when the ultimate compliment is "Yeah, it looks hot as hell."  So, yeah, "efficient" doesn't make waves but sends a clear message.

Couldn't agree more.  Once guys quit making plays, it was as if he reeled things in to play it safe.  Which, under the circumstances, was somewhat understandable.  Not entirely excusable, but understandable.

his actions are what disturbs me. not his words.   no one could truly believe henne was efficient. unless the word has changed meaning while i wasn't looking.  he certainly isn't  achieving maximum productivity. perhaps he is well-organized and competent at losing football games. but that's about it,  yet he is still our starter,  that's the insulting part.

Hopefully when we are 0-2 and Henne is stinking it up at home, Gus hears the boos rain down and gets the message.
