Is Gurley worth a 1st round pick?

Explain the similarities, please.

Bama's offensive line made Richardson look great. Todd Gurley is great. Try not to let your hatred of Georgia get in the way.

I asked for similarities. Trent Richardson, at 5'9, is considered big? Give up.

5 9 225? Id say that is pretty big.

Dont get me wrong though, I love Gurley and he is definitely a first round pick no questions asked.

There is a big difference in body types between someone 5'9 225 and someone 6'1 226.

I asked for comparisons. Body size ("big") is not a good comparison for Richardson and Gurley. Agree?

Ok? That doesn't mean that Gurley and Richardson have similar body type.s Yao Ming and LeBron James can both be considered "big", but to say they have similar body types would be incredibly stupid. On a smaller scale, saying someone 5'9 is similar in size to someone 6'1 is stupid.

You're losing credibility with this one. If you want to say you don't like Gurley, fine, but he is not Trent Richardson 2.0.

Keep in mind that's their listed heights. At the combine, gurley will probably only come in at 5'11" so it's only a couple inches.

Either way I think gurley is quicker and faster.

They both run hard (at least in college.)
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I don't think I've ever heard, read, described, or thought of Todd Gurley as "lacks quickness".

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I like Gurley. The Jags would look really scary on offense if they were to pick him up and he was as good as advertised.

If I have a mid-first, I'd draft him.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Oh yes, this question is laughable (no offense haveaseat), but Gurley is definitely worth a 1st round pick. He has the rare combination of burst, vision, power, agility, and long speed. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in the top 10, his only issue has been durability.

OK --- after watching Gurley last week and now watching the Jags in week 1, I change my response from NO to YES.   Ninja

It's just hard to imagine for me as much as RB's have been devalued so much lately to see one go in the first round, let alone top 10.

I just think that spending a first round pick on a RB in the current era of the NFL is not wise.

Maybe a late first rounder for a really, really special player.  Never a top ten pick.

For every Trent Richardson (3rd overall) there are three Alfred Morris' (173rd overall) to be had.

I'd like to see that on paper.

Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

Ok,ok.  It was a gross exaggeration on my part.  I'll make my point in more realistic terms.

In 2013 the first RB taken was Bernard at 37th.

In 2014 the first RB taken was Sankey at 54th.

I expect this trend will continue with the exception of AP/Lynch type players.  And I think the RB selected inside the top ten is becoming extinct quickly.

Here are the current top RB who are starting in the NFL currently and their draft rounds:

---------------------------

1st round RBs

AP

Lynch

Ryan Matthews

Doug Martin (31st pick)

CJ Spiller

Mark Ingram

------------------------

2nd rd.

McCoy

Lacy

Forte

LeVeon Bell

---------------------------

3rd round

DeMarco Murray

Jamaal Charles

Frank Gore

-------------------------

6th rd

Morris

Andre Ellington

-------------------------------

UDFA  -

Foster

One could argue that only 3, maybe 4 of those guys taken in the first round have lived up to their draft position. I think the second or third round is the place to draft a RB unless he's something really special.  Gurley might fit the "special" category but I'd like to see how he performs against the better defenses he faces this season before making that call.  He's a late first or early second rounder to me until then.
