Is Gurley worth a 1st round pick?

Absolutely. There may be 3 or 4 running backs worth a 1st next draft.
Gurley Yeldon Gordon Johnson And a couple darkhorses like Mike Davis, Javorius Allen, Matt Jones, and Karlos Williams. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
This year will be the real test. If none out of this stacked class can go first round then it might not happen for a long long time.
I could see a late 1st round pick, but not in the top 20. The difference between the really good and adequate starting RBs has never been smaller. Only Adrian Peterson out of the highly drafted RBs was really worth his pick and his team still hasn't reaped many rewards in terms of playoff victories. Get the big guys, QBs, and CBs early. It is a very rare WR, LB, TE, S, or RB that really impacts his team enough to be a top 20 pick.

If he stays healthy this whole season and shows that he can carry a team after Murray has left, I'd say yes. Granted, it may be a low First Round selection but I think he's got First Round talent.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Quote:No chance. Gurley>>>>Yeldon. Yeldon is highly overrated IMO. Agree on Yeldon.

I would probably rank Gurley a little higher than Yeldon, although they are both exceptional. I'd rank Derrick Henry hands down better than both, though.
I'd be stunned if he wasnt the first RB off the board next year. And the only reason he wouldnt be a first round pick is because teams just arent interested in RBs like they used to be. First he is really big and will run people over. Just find the video of him running over Bama defenders into the endzone in the SEC championship game. Once he is in the open field he is pretty darn fast. Maybe not Adrian Peterson fast but he isnt caught from behind very often. He is surprisingly quick in the hole for a guy his size and can make sharp cuts easily. And he can catch out of the backfield. He is basically the prototypical RB. Has everything you want.

Looking at RBs drafted early (1/2 rd) these past few drafts: 2014: Sankey//Hill but 3rd rounders Hyde/Archer/West seem to look better this early (too early to really make a call on this year) 2013: Bennard//Lacy have looked the part but once again were 2nd rounders...5th/6th rounders Stacy//M. James made impacts for their teams as well. 2012: Richardson (haha)//Doug Martin (was behind 6th rounder M.James on total carries)//Wilson were the 1st round picks...do any seem like they were worth it? Benard Pierce///Vick Ballard//Bryce Brown all came 3rd round or later and have have impacts at a ton better value. 2011: Ingram//Leshoure//Thomas//Williams have done nothing of note for their draft pick status....Demarco Murray//Roy Helu//Ridley all had bigger or similar impacts and all came round 3 or later.
I think he goes in the 2nd round simply due to him being a high mileage/injury prone back.. If he makes it through this season healthy it might put him back in the first round but he's likely gonna get a ton of carries.. That scares teams.. Whereas a guy like Yeldon may not be as good, he's in a RB by committee situation, so he's not going to have all the carries, so the wear and tear on his body will be less.. But FWIW I'd take him in the first.. Guy can flat out fly, and run people over..
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.
Which RB out of the last 5 years would you have taken with a 1st round pick knowing now what they have produced?

He's definitely worth on talent. He was probably Georgia's best player last year. If he can stay injury free I wouldn't at all be shocked if he's a top 20 pick. I don't like Yeldon. He has a problem with ball security in games I've watched as well as playing behind an all-world offensive line. Gordon will be good. I'm still holding out for Sanders Jr or Kelvin Taylor in a couple years though... They've flashed great talent as well as being legacy players.
The only way I'd feel comfortable taking Gurley is if we're late in the first and Gerhart disappointed this year. We need to address our real needs - center, free safety, tight end.
