Quote:Thats the whole point, Jimbo is a hot commodity right now, anyone can throw money at him. If he was intrigued by the Texas job he would have milked FSU out for more money.

Brown brought UNC football back to revelant status with bowl apperances, and top 25 finishes in the the few years before he left for Texas.

I think his agent, Jimmy Sexton, also Saban's agent, used the Texas situation to maximize their salaries. So in a sense, he did get money out of FSU over this whole thing.

FSU and other schools like Auburn had to up the ante out of fear of getting outbid by Texas.

Jimbo getting a new deal had nothing to do with the potential for the Texas job to open up.

yes it did.  its simple really, a high profile job was going to be open.  better to make your guy happy sooner rather than when he is in talks with Texas.

he is one of the candidates Texas will call whether you like it or not.

No, no it didn't. A raise had been in the works long before the Texas job opened up.

and the Texas job was likely used in negotiations.  come on, man.  wake up

and you should be a little worried.  It is being reported that some things at FSU over the past couple years have made Jimbo unhappy.  Yes, now that everything is going great, you love him and never wanted him to leave.  That wasn't the case before this year and Jimbo probably heard enough of it.  BYE

Worried about what?

Texas is trying to hit the home run. They have reportadely went after the NFLer's Chip Kelly, and Mike Tomlin along with Briles and Shaw at the college level.

I don't know what you're talking about. I never wanted him gone in the first place.

I'm not worried about him leaving at all. He and his wife love it in Tallahassee. He has built FSU back into a perennial title contender, and has his star QB coming back for another year. Why would he want to start all over again?

I don't think anyone can definitively say for sure that Fisher's contract was or was not done when it was because of the talk coming out of Texas.

I don't think it is far fetched though to think that the FSU administration heard the rumblings which spurred the talks, maybe sped them up to get something in place.

im sorry, i didnt realize you knew Jimbo and his wife on a personal level.

im getting my information from Finebaum who says he actually knows jimbo personally. he said that he's sure jimbo would deny it all for the sake of maintaining good PR, but that the past couple years were not pleasant for him in Tallahassee. there were other contract disputes that rubbed him the wrong way and he felt underappreciated.

that is all im saying. and jimmy sexton, THE AGENT, obviously used the situation to Saban's advantage. it's completely logical to assume he would do the same for another hot client

Sorry, I stopped reading at Finebaum. Anyone who listens to that geek is about as clueless as he is, so I'm not surprised you listen to him.

I get my information from people who are closer to the situation than Finebaum. He is a hack.

I'm surprised he can even take time to report on Jimbo and the Texas job with all the Alabama/SEC slurping he does.

the Mack brown story has been the biggest thing the last couple weeks. obviously Jimbo is on their radar and he isn't as happy at FSU as you and tomahawk slop nation will report

you really are going to play dumb and think the years before this one were all sunshine and rainbows for Fisher? people were calling for his replacement and FSU neglected to give him an extension until just recently

The contract talks began months ago and are par for the course with college coaches. Malzaun got a new deal too.
