As much as I love the idea of Chandler Jones being on the 2016 Jacksonville roster, I don't see any way that Belichick trades him away. Belichick trades old guys, not young guys coming off of career seasons.


But! What better use for the offseason than to engage in a little wishful thinking.

I say that because they were rumors that he may be the odd man out. They got a lot of contracts expiring soon and there is chatter they like Sheard just as much as Jones. Also think the 2nd round would look enticing since they don't have a 1st this year.

I don't like trading a high 1st or 2nd round pick and inheriting a 1 year remaining contract.  If the Jags were to make a move on Chandler Jones, and Patriots willing, I would hope it only be made concurrent with a long term deal.

"Guaranteed starter" is the same philosophy that got us Anger.


It's a dumb phrase and philosophy. You can still get playmakers in the 5th. Is it a guarantee? Of course not but taking a kicker , when you have so many other holes, this year is just down right dumb. Caldwell doesn't make many dumb moves so I highly doubt he takes a kicker.


It's a kicker. A kicker. If one sucks, find another one. The Steelers did it several times this year. They traded for one and how'd that work out?
