Thoughts on Jags FA, Draft, future...

Quote:As much as I love the idea of Chandler Jones being on the 2016 Jacksonville roster, I don't see any way that Belichick trades him away. Belichick trades old guys, not young guys coming off of career seasons. I say that because they were rumors that he may be the odd man out. They got a lot of contracts expiring soon and there is chatter they like Sheard just as much as Jones. Also think the 2nd round would look enticing since they don't have a 1st this year. The salt is heavy about the kicker. Name our last 10 fifth round picks... That'll do it
Quote:The salt is heavy about the kicker. Name our last 10 fifth round picks... That'll do itMan you're dense. Rashad Greene and Telvin Smith were our last two. Is that good enough for you? Denard Robinson, Brandon Marshall (SB winner), Uche, Sensabaugh....
5th round is too high to draft a kicker. I would say our 2nd 6th round pick at the earliest
Rashad Greene, Telvin Smith, Chris Smith, Denard Robinson, Brandon Marshall, Rod Issac, Austen Lane, Larry Hart, Jarrett Dillard, Thomas Williams, Trae Williams, Uchi Nwaneri, Josh Gattis, Derek Landri, Brent Hawkins...
That's going back 10 years. Sounded nicer when you cherry pick the best names out. On a positive note, Jags have had more success in the 5th round than a lot of teams because the 5th round is historically bad. But yea, kicker in the 5th for sure. I was mad about a punter in the 3rd. Guaranteed starter in the 5th I'm all for that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! If the Jags were to make a move on Chandler Jones, and Patriots willing, I would hope it only be made concurrent with a long term deal. It's a dumb phrase and philosophy. You can still get playmakers in the 5th. Is it a guarantee? Of course not but taking a kicker , when you have so many other holes, this year is just down right dumb. Caldwell doesn't make many dumb moves so I highly doubt he takes a kicker. It's a kicker. A kicker. If one sucks, find another one. The Steelers did it several times this year. They traded for one and how'd that work out?
Sign Trumaine Johnson,Danny Trevathan,a rotational veteran DE(William Hayes),and Joique Bell.
Draft Jalen Ramsey-S-FSU Nick Martin-C-ND Yannick Ngakoue-DE-Maryland Yes? No? Quote:Rashad Greene, Telvin Smith, Chris Smith, Denard Robinson, Brandon Marshall, Rod Issac, Austen Lane, Larry Hart, Jarrett Dillard, Thomas Williams, Trae Williams, Uchi Nwaneri, Josh Gattis, Derek Landri, Brent Hawkins... Gene logic has been shown not to work. You can get a guaranteed starter at kicker in free agency. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Aguayo will be the 3rd best kicker currently in the NFL the day he's drafted. He's going to the pro bowl as a rookie.
Meyers had some ups and downs this year. The xp situation is the main concern.

Anyone old enough to remember Russell Erxleben? All American punter and kicker drafted in the first round by the Saints. Eleventh overall pick! An interesting read, for those of you who want a little football history:

In the good ol' days, you could have gotten George Blanda in the 12th round, who started at QB and Kicker, and played for a record 26 seasons in the NFL. Now that is kicker value.
In the 5th round I'm willing to take the number 1 rated kicker. Some don't agree, how about if I make him there in the 6th?
Overall my mock had to be pretty impressive because the only complaint was with a Kicker in the 5th. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
