Quote:Oh definitely agree. Just seems like there are a ton of questions about how the scores are even made in the first place. I don't see how you can blindly follow the numbers without even having any idea about how they are gotten, other than that they are measured with a radar gun at the combine.
And trust me I understand getting triggered when people go after your boys in ways you don't like or agree with, like the way I do when people asininely try to say Fowler's rookie (but actually not rookie) year was in the same realm's as Beasley's just because they finished half a sack apart.

Quote:You think NFL teams are just going to look at these numbers and just ignore them given that it is such a strong indicator of future success? We've been talking about arm strength for decades, they have measured it for decades. It is important because time is distance, if that ball is going 10 mph slower over 20-30 yards thats quite a bit more time for the db to react and close the window and pick that ball. If you don't think NFL teams are talking about that score, I don't know what to tell you. They are likely to look at it in the context of his game film, I certainly do, but 49 is fricking alarmingly bad.

I get the feeling that you wouldn't believe me if I said the sky is blue if that meant that Watson was anything less than stellar.

Do we have any wonderlic results yet?

Yet we haven't heard any teams ever talk about the importance of the velocity score measured at the combine. Despite it being of utmost importance, so important in fact, that only 7 good QBs since 2008 have even had velocity's scores measured at the combine. Have no problem with data being used to help evaluate a player, but you'd at least like to know how the scores are even made before blindly believing in them.

As I've said before Watson has his flaws as a QB, particularly after this year compared to last. He forces the ball too much, arm doesn't look as good as 2015, escapes pocket too much etc etc. But if you're going to attempt to use a velocity number to seemingly write him off a QB, at least be able to show how its measured in the first place.

I wouldn't say triggered more so than being able to look at data given as a reason for something when in reality the data given is flawed.

I'll pay credence to a velocity score when someone actually shows how they measure it in the first place. Without that its really just empty numbers to me.

Sad part about that was I was spoilered (is that a word?) about William really early on.

I didn't believe it though. Even had all these theories about why it was wrong.

Might seem like overkill but does anyone think even if we sign Murray we should draft a running back too.

I know this crowds up the room with Ivory, Murray, Yeldon, draft pick and Grant but I think it would make for good healthy competition while also covering us in case of injury.

Let them fight it out in training camp and then feed the hot hand through the year. If a guy ain't performing then there are plenty more guys to fill his role.

I fully expect us to select Fournette if we stay at #4, regardless of whether we sign Murray or not.

It certainly seems that way. You think anybody would try trade up for him?

Who knows? I think there will be several players on the board at #4 that other teams will be willing to trade up for though. You never know. Sometimes teams just fall in love with one guy for whatever reason. I definitely believe we will have an opportunity to trade down though. Whether the team wants to though, I don't know.
