All Bortles Haters Come- Stats at Age 23 and INTs

#61

Quote:How are the projection of stats a reflection of what he has done? Manziel projects to throw over 30 TDs with only 5 INTs, does that give them reason to believe he is the long time answer as a franchise QB?
Really? The best argument you have is to compare projections based on the sample size of a back up to a guy who has started all 6 games this season?

If you'd rather talk about that I'd love to as I'm very passionate and interested in the subject. Delivering a lecture on the non-reality of colors as objective mind-independent properties later this evening that I think is very interesting. I don't understand why people constantly want to challenge my intelligence and personal character but never the argument.
LOL! Obviously mathmatics and simple statistics are way over your head.

Because you are not being logical.

Thanks for your resume, do you feel smart now?  Do you want me to tell you about the thesis i did when you were probably still in middle school?

But he is being so objective and making wonderful arguments...

You're missing the point. The point is that the projection of stats mean nothing. No one really believes that Manziel is the answer or that he would achieve those stats if he actually played a 16 game season. Similarly, there is no reason to give a player credit for the projection of his stats when he hasn't actually produced them. A projection is not the same as actuality.

But the projected stats should support your argument that he sucks right? Because they are based on his sucky season. How are you not seeing this?

You are missing a very simple concept my friend.

Go read about sample size in statistics.  Guess that's why you are studying the philosophy of science, and not actually science itself.

Where did I use projected stats to support the notion that he sucks? And when did I say that he sucks? I've maintained consistently that his ceiling is a middling to slightly above average starting QB. Can you win games with a QB of that caliber? Absolutely. I'm just not going to pretend he is lock to be in leagues with HOF QBs and other all time greats because of the projection of his stats (in today's pass happy NFL where production is inflated by various rule changes since those QBs played) compare to theirs.

You've been saying he sucks since you joined the board.

Bortles is a meathead

He has a loaf of bread for brains

there's no other way to explain why a QB has INTs at the worst times every. stinkin. time.

Please, dumb it down for me. You're bringing up sample size, but the topic itself ignore the larger body of statistical analysis for his career. How can anyone make a reasonable inference based on a projection of stats based on a 5 game sample size that accounts for less than a 1/3 of his career? What am I missing here? No one is willing to fill in those details of put the stats into a proper context of analysis.

It's 6 games, and he's a different QB than he was last year.  You know, sometimes development and improvement occur...

Quote:Its funny to see you stoop so low as to completely disregard how terrible the team around him is because you are so desperately beholden to trying to prove some idiotic preconceived notion right.

You want to see Blake fail and it is hilarious to watch you squirm.

Blake's W/L is not good. Obviously it is all his fault and has nothing to do with the league's worst running game, defense, and head coach.

Btw you have the most perfect avatar on this board. Vince Vaughn always plays such a bumbling idiot- it fits your posting history remarkably well.

Hahaha this

Of course development and improvement occurs. You're not being very explicit with your reasoning here, and you still have not addressed the fundamental point of my complaint. How can the mere projection of a limited sample size, taken out of context, lead to any reasonable inference about the trajectory of a player's career?

It's obviously over your head, i'm sorry.

If it is so simple, why can't you be bothered to explain in a clear fashion? I'll gladly concede the point if you can justify it.

Bortles is garbage...(he reminds me of a back up)

I'm all for drafting another QB in 2016.

If he can't learn from throwing the same pick 6's last year and earlier this year.... That makes him ignorant and not "the guy"...

I ain't no monkey... I'm an ape. Banana
