Prisco doesn't think we should fire Bradley

Quote:If the team needs a new head coach, then the right appointment can bring the fans in. Look at the effect Rex Ryan has had in Buffalo. They sold over 60,000 season tickets, and I think they even started a waiting list (albeit short and likely to disappear if their season continues to go down the pan).

We could be similar. If we appoint a head coach that brings excitement and hope back to the team, then the season ticket sales could be boosted. Whereas keeping Gus may result in less renewing or buying them if he is given another season.

I think the issue with Marrone is that not long after giving a speech after the last game about family and how they play and work for each other, he waltzes off with a nice pay day and sticking two fingers up to them all. I guess taking the pay day may make sense to some, but I feel a lot will view him as a quitter who didn't believe he could take that team any further than he already did, and took the first chance to get out. I don't think many teams would view that in a positive way, hence why they passed on him at this time.

In fairness to Marrone, a new owner frequently wants to hire his own guys. Marrone had no security at that point, and who knows whether or not the new owner would want to meddle in the coaching staff, draft, etc. That's why the clause was inserted into Marrone's contract in the first place.

Are you okay, Winger?

He's just really frustrated about the Jags like the rest of us.

All he really needs is a "W".

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Firing the coach is classic knee-jerk.  You can't fire him every week.  It's only good for one small pop of "satisfaction", then what?

The defense needs an influx of talent no matter who is coach.  Give Gus the rest of this year for sure.

Lol glad you're okay with losing.

Because that's what will happen if Gus stays. People are curious if this is a talent thing or a coaching thing. The only way to know is if we have a new coach.

Benefits of firing gus now?

1. Accountability:  This sends a message the team won't accept mediocre peformances

2. Change Can be good:  Look at Miami after they fired their coach

3. Early search on a hc candidate: Give Maroone or whoever till the end of the year to prove it or move it

4. Sends a tough message to players:  No more cake and ice cream after your scrubby performance.  Play well or hit the road jack

He's right, we won't fire him after 1-5. That'll solve nothing....... He'll be fired after 1-6

Quote:The expectation last year was that the Jags would be in the playoff hunt deep into the 2015 season. There is a reason the expectations were lowered so drastically this year. Expectations of 6-10 were partly based on the knowledge that the Jags didn't have a very good coach. We just lost 3 of the most winnable games on our schedule. Do you really think that 6-10 is even a reasonably remote possibility at this point?

Some might say that keeping Gus as head coach is conceding and giving up the fight.
Who said playoffs in 2015? I've never seen or heard anyone from the Jags say anything more than being competitive this year...The only people that have said anything about playoffs in 2015 are on this board

Not saying that marrone is the answer...

But the critique that he left the bills and that underlies a character flaw needs examination.

Marrone opted out after a change in the front office, correct?

If so, does that not show a noble loyalty to those that hired him?

Again I'm not saying he's the answer, but it's something to think about...

It isn't a fine with losing thing, it is a logical point of view.  We want action but sometimes it is better to wait.  Let the season take care of itself.

Reading comprehension?

I said being in the playoff hunt late in the season. That's still a long way from actually making the playoffs.

Is Pete a fan of the Jaguars if not what does he have to lose by telling fans to put up with losing longer?

There must be some misunderstanding.

There must be some kind of mistake.

Quote:if we fire bradley and another hc takes over and we start winning... well never know if that would have happened without firing him.

gota wait the season out

That makes no sense. We've had two and a half seasons of constant losses. If we fire him, hire a new coach, and start winning, then it would be pretty obvious he was indeed the problem.

If Gus is going to be fired mid season, it has to be after this coming Bills game. Should we lose the game, the timing makes sense with the bye week. If we lose and he isn't fired, he gets the rest of the season.

I can see the positives for both sides. Now, or at the end of the season, but it's only a matter of time either way.

Might as well let Beadles continue to play... Let the season play out.

Keep rushing 4 men.... Let the season play out.

Keep not making 2nd half adjustments.... Let the season play out.

Keep it all because it's clearly working and we should.... Let the season play out.

Exactly - Caldwell is setting the Jags up for the 1st pick in the draft.

If you make halftime adjustments, change schemes, hold people accountable - that could lead to a win and ruin draft position.  Best to stay the course with Gus Bradley - guaranteed to keep up the great streak of garbage.

I remember that season Tom was fired. They (the fan base) thrown beer bottles at the team. Now its plastic bottles dont.gonfar. lol. Anyways they had to end the game til the stadium emptied. Then thy came out to finish the game. I was there, Tom was fired shortly after.

But that was after we took the division and went to the AFC championship game. Now that was a great season. Hopefulky we'll revisit a winming season in 2018.
