Why retain Dave Caldwell?

Durant is not a Bum. He's just not a superstar. He's a lifetime starter. You always here draftnits say "10 year starter and plug and play right now"

And you have to give credit to the Jaguars for identifying a player like that. Hes been a 10 year NFL player, not everyone can be an all pro but if you draft someone in the 2nd and he plays and starts for 10 years? You would take that every day of the week. Quote:Why would Coughlin leave?? He have a gravy job and he making bank.. Caldwell more likely to leave first imo..He cant live forever
Quote:Yes, we had cap problems after 2008. Drayton Florence and Jerry Porter were both cut after 1 season after getting massive contracts which were not cap friendly. We had cap problems because of 2008.No we didn't, Porter and Florence got big contracts but they were well structured. We were actually something like $16 million under the cap in Jan of 2009. Cap hell is when you have to restructure just to get under the cap.

Cap hell is when you have to restructure just to get under the cap.If true I stand corrected, I remember it differently, but it was a long time ago, so if we were 16 million under, than good. I just remember them having some cap issues right around when Shack left and Gene, though he wasn't good, was better with the cap. We show less advertisements to registered users. With todays modern medicine its fair to say he can live another 15 -20 years.sure people do that all the time...over 100 and still working a high stress job, driving themselves everywhere, working 60 plus hours a week, doing press conferences...It happens all the time
I think he might be decent as a head scout but the results prove he's not a competent GM at this point. Maybe he can lean some things from TC.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Regardless of what Tom Coughlin does for this team it's still a head scratcher how many can say "dave caldwell is a smart gm."
The record speaks for itself and it is atrocious. This is the same fanbase who defended Gene Smith to the death so I am not too shocked but still shocked. The 3-13 team we just had was "Dave's Team." It was not all coaching why we were so bad. We lack talent in the trenches. ![]()
Jaguarmvp, sadly results don't count when we dish out praise or rebukes.
He was considered one of the best in the league because he has 'amassed a ton of talent', in our minds and perhaps on paper, not on the pitch where it counts. Tis the team we love...
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.

Maybe, but at least we'll start hitting on first rounders. His track record of top 15 picks is pretty impressive. Nearly all were/are All Pro level players. Quote:Come on cuh! Even if he lived for another 175 years, that still ain't forever. He said Coughlin can't live forever and you asked "you sure"? Lol.. Quote:I fear we all look back and say damn, hiring TC SUCKED.I have been thinking that as much as I like TC eventually there will be turmoil in the front office...The old adage "too many cooks spoil the soup" rings in my ears...I don't know what they have planned but I don't like throwing away Beechum for a 32 year old injury prone LT...It appears as though they are creating more holes to fill in a year where there isn't much in the draft to fill them with, and even if there was plenty to fill the holes with, we would be starting rookies again...I'd rather bring someone in and let them be rotational players for a year and then get rid of players like Beechum...Get players replacements before you [BLEEP] can them...Once again, I don't know their plan so they might have something up their sleeve but just not saying
Caldwell is a good, young GM. He will learn a tremendous amount from TC and become a Great GM ready to resume full control when TC eventually retires. The team could benefit greatly. I would imagine that is the hope.

People Caldwell failed! He didn't do his job! He had a rebuild plan, and it didn't work... Please open your eyes people.. He failed! Wrong Coach, Wrong QB, Wrong Lt.. I can go on and on and on and on! As Blake goes, so will Caldwell..
