Watched some random movie I found on Tubi(Can't even remember the name of it now, psycho something) almost threw up first ten minutes in due to the gore, and turned it off. Hell, might have been a snuff film for all I know, horrific.

You're a good man for doing that, Winger. My husband "watches" the occasional home renovation show I put on when he's around. Home Town, Fixer Upper, Good Bones. He doesn't hate them but I know they're not his favorite. The funny thing is when he says it's okay for me to pull one up so he can relax. Lol. It doesn't happen often and the first time he said it I was looking for a thermometer to see if he had a fever.

The renovation shows aren't bad, and I'm ok with the occasional rom-com, but I still can't stomach the Lifetime Movie Network, and I've tried.  Truly awful TV.  I just head for the other room when she's watching that stuff.

I won't touch Lifetime or Hallmark. 

Actually the only thing I like about Discovery+ is it has Magnolia Network and the HGTV shows I like which are few. I get a kick out of occasionally watching an original House Hunters from the first few seasons before everyone said they have to have open concept everything. People weren't doing mental demo day while touring houses, they just wanted a place to live.

I just watched The Darkest Hour on Netflix. Winston Churchill evidently yelled a great deal in real life.

It was a good movie but I couldn't quite get past Gary Oldman as Churchill. I thought John Lithgow was really good as Churchill in The Crown. Maybe by the time WC was PM for Queen Elizabeth he had calmed down some. Or Lithgow was just the better actor for it.

Unpopular opinion but I hated E.T. The storyline was okay but I hated the character. That thing creeped me the freak out. To this day I can't even stand to look at it.

Yeah I was not a fan either. Mostly because I was expecting more along the line of Alien when I saw it, not a kid's show.

We finally watched Top Gun: Maverick. It was OK I guess, I was expecting a whole lot more having seen some of the reviews. The plot was a little thin/implausible and it wasn't even really about the Top Gun school, they probably should have just named it Maverick. Oh well, nostalgia is in these days, lol.

We finally watched Top Gun: Maverick. It was OK I guess, I was expecting a whole lot more having seen some of the reviews. The plot was a little thin/implausible and it wasn't even really about the Top Gun school, they probably should have just named it Maverick. Oh well, nostalgia is in these days, lol.

You missed out by not watching it at the movie theater. That was half the fun of watching it. And to be fair the movie is titled Top Gun: Maverick. Kind of a no brainer IMO. 

I didn't care that the situation was not plausible. I mean, there is no way in hell a 53 year old would still be a captain at 30+ years in. I don't care what anyone says. My ex-husband had to change his MOS (job) because he couldn't get promoted as a medic because there were too many folks at his next rank already. He either had to change MOS or get out so he went back to his initial job of MP (military police). Maverick would have been forcibly separated or retired a long time ago.

And that's just me looking at it as a former soldier and former wife of a now retired soldier. The whole mission scenario was sketchy but how those scenes were shot put together was worth the sketch. If you're not familiar with how they trained for and filmed the flight scenes you should look it up. It's quite phenomenal and as much grief as Tom Cruise gets for being, well, Tom Cruise, he is the reason the movie was filmed the way it was.

I was an airdale so that probably makes me more critical than I should be of military aviation movies. I remember how serious and studious those fighter jocks really are. Maverick would have rocked out years ago. For military movies, I’ve always preferred realism over character based adventure but I do get why it was popular.

The volume in those joints actually trigger my anxiety and I'll have an anxiety attack. That and the headaches that come from the sound make it a miserable experience, thus the ear plugs. 

Theaters must think we're all deaf by now so they have to jack up the volume.

I served in the Navy as well as an airdale.  Made 3 1/2 cruises to the Med, North Atlantic, Gulf and Indian Ocean.  Perhaps that what ruined the movie for me.

I actually liked TG: Mav.. I didn't see it in the theaters though. Got a pretty impressive home theater system, wife hates it lolol

But, I did see Top Gun in the theaters when it came out.. That was fun!

Yeah, I was trying to be charitable lol. I've seen worse though. The first one was good even though it was kinda silly at times. The second one was just over the top IMO.

I saw it in an IMAX theater and thought it was a great movie. It's not Oscar material, but as an in-the-theater experience, it was tons of fun.

We watched a really good movie last night on Peacock.. I think it was called Champions. Woody Harrelson movie. Was about this out of work College Basketball coach, coaching a team with mental disabilities.

Great movie!
