Any chance we can merge this thread?

I'll be plenty happy with Smith or Marrone. I'm hoping either guy hires a big time coordinator on the other side of the ball though.

They both fit the mold of what you look for in a head coach.

That'd be ideal, but if he's good at hiring his coaching staff, then it doesn't really matter.  Have a strong OC and that fixes that.

Any coach we pick will be a massive upgrade, so I'm not worried.

Best choice for this team if it happens.  We need experience, structure and proven track record.  Fastest ever to 50 wins.  I'll take it.

The question is: Can he attract a strong OC?

And are there any strong OC's available?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Whoever it is needs to bring a strong staff with them. We need to demolish our current coaching staff and start fresh.

There's a few.  Definitely not Chip Kelley though.  He can take that garbage back to college.

I think it was Mark Dominik - ESPN

My bad. Mixed up the D's.

Too easy. I will leave this one alone.

Thought that came to my mind....Any players Mike Smith can attract from Atlanta or Tampa like how Gus brought some Seattle players here?

Musgrave is the OC of Oakland right now, he has worked with mike smith before and it is believed he may become available.

Norv Turner

Mike McCoy

those are probably the 3 premier guys that arent in the running for HC like Mcdaniels and shanahan.

I also like mike shula, but do not believe he would leave carolina for a lateral move unless he thinks that offense is a sinking ship.

Akeem Spence and William Gholston are two guys from TB that will be free agents.

Weatherspoon and Upshaw are two decent FA possibilities from ATL.
