New Drug Policy....could it be good for Blackmon?

Didn't lose his license, didn't go to jail, didn't lose his job, millionaire. Yeah, definitely coddled.

Stop comparing these athletes to "everyday men", it's apples to oranges, you're smart enough to know that Oklahomie.

I was a supporter of Blackmon coming back for the longest, but even I finally gave up hope. There's just not much to go on that says he comes back to football ever again. He's in a crazy dark place.

Justin's latest suspension has accounted for a total of 9 games, it's possible he get's resinstated immediately if Josh Gordon's suspension is reduced to 8 games. If he doesn't get resinstated immediately considering Gordon's situation, I imagine the Jaguars brass we'll be in contact with the league.

Per ESPN they're reporting Gordon's suspension is expected to be reduced to 8 games.

That's great news for Justin and the Jaguars, at this point it's all up to him, but the pieces for an early reinstatement are falling into place.

It's obvious there's a difference in treatment, what there isn't a difference in is attitude.

When people are a certain way they don't change unless they absolutely are forced to make that choice. It's quite clear that no amount of "support" will convince him he needs to change his lifestyle, all that does is tells him he can do anything and he'll always be welcomed back.

Blackmon's case has always been a strange one,  so little information except the team not including him in their plans. then more arrests with little to no comment. and no offical word of when he might be eligible for reinstatement. some sites say before the 2014 season. others after week nine. then the latest arrest will he be suspended again as soon as he is reinstated?   with Gordon and others it was a constant stream of info.

are we sure that this will be overturned/cut? It happened in the previous league year and the other suspensions happened this year.

This is completely my opinion but I think this is due to the fact that while the player usually fights tooth and nail to get back to the field, Blackmon basically said screw this. That's the only way it makes sense to me.

Nothing is approved yet, so who knows what will be the final details of the new policy. There's also a lot more details in regards to Gordon's case compared to Blackmon. To this point, we still don't know exactly what JB did to a) get him into the 2nd strike and b) suspended indefinitely.

Finally, even if JB's suspension is lifted, the guy is only months from yet another arrest. Based on what we're hearing so far, I don't think his life is quite in order enough to be playing again.

Hey at least its possible Ace could have his suspension lifted. Goodness knows we could use the bodies at the position.

According to this, Justin Blackmon would literally be clear to play if these rules are in place, even with his DUI arrest.

That's incredible. I'm bitter sweet because we're clearly letting a guy with a drug problem get off the easy way.

Yep, it's certainly shaping up that way, I think he get's reinstated immediately after this new program is approved.

What does this mean, exactly? That people suspended after that current date are the only ones eligible for reinstatement?

If I were Jags front office I'd get Blackmon a plane ticket to Jacksonville with a connection in Denver.   I'd have limo at the Denver airport with a huge bag of weed and tell him to smoke up while driving him around town.  From there, I'd get him on a plane for practice next week.

Imaging the free agency market for Denver and Seattle.  Players will be taking pay cuts to live out there !!

That's certainly a possibility.  We'll have to see how this plays out.

The NFLPA and this team has to go to bat for Blackmon.   We need to form a Tebow type march downtown (with the same 15 people that marched on the city a few years ago) and show our support for JB !!    SET FREE J-B  ... has a nice ring to it.
