2017 Recruiting Thread

Michigan landed two big recruits from IMG Academy: Cesar Ruiz and Jordan Anthony. Nice to see that practice down there back in March show up on the recruiting trail.

This OSU fan brought up the IMG Academy trip and it made me think of the connection.

He wasn't very impressive in the US Army game yesterday. Cam Akers looked way better.

Akers definitely looked better and I think a big part is that Akers is more elusive. The lines were terrible so the more elusive back is going to look better. Najee is 6'3 so he isn't going to be able to turn the corner the way Akers did on that nice run. Najee is special when he gets to the 2nd level but it was pretty hard for RBs to get to the 2nd level with how bad the offensive lines were playing.

Quote:Being reported that Mike Locksley is heading to Florida. He should add a boost on the recruiting trail.

Florida strikes out on Locksley. Christobal joining Oregon as OC is going to open up a spot for Locksley at Alabama.

Florida's recruiting this year has been complete trash. Not even worth mentioning any names especially with everyone leaving this offseason.

FSU picked up three commits this week. High school teammates Tamorrion Terry and Ontaria Wilson, while 6'7 defensive end Tre Lawson committed today.

Yea, Mac's days are numbered.

UF has 9 four star (****) recruits, including 5 on offense.

UF has a #22 ranking on Rivals simply because they only have 15 commits.  You need to look at the Avg Star Ranking in which they are #10 right behind FSU at #9.

UF will fill their slots but right now, they are not settling for anything less than the players they are highly targeting.

Teams like Maryland (Currently Ranked at #13) is a joke because they have 28 commits with an average of 3.11 stars.

UF has done pretty good under Mac considering they haven't had a QB

UF has done ok, but the fact that they are no longer getting 5 star recruits is pretty pathetic.  Florida is not a second tier University just ahead of the likes of Maryland and North Carolina, they should pull at least 2 or 3 five stars a year.  Mcelwain doesn't have enough energy like some of these other guys.

Yeah, I'm just really going based on comparing to previous years. The recruiting has gone downhill for UF.

Most of what you're saying is true - but they should have more commits at this point already. They're not going to get 10 more players that are 4 stars in the last 2 weeks. They will fill up their squad obviously but it will come with 3 stars and leftovers basically.

I'll be curious if they get a single 5 star recruit and how high their highest ranked recruit is in the country.

According to Rivals, UF's highest ranked recruit at the moment is ranked 84th in the country.

Jeremy Foley was a great AD, but he has been slow to upgrade certain things on campus to attract recruits in the past.  That weight room took ages to upgrade.

Although, the Gator Getters were an amazing recruiting tool.
