How is there no back-up plan at QB?

Glennon over Kaepernick

Yes, yes, and yes... it was Gabbert over Kaepernick.

Not sure who, exactly you, think he is... but whatever you're imagining isn't Kaepernick.

But hey, when I was a kid I liked to make excuses that made no sense for things that made me mad, too.  When I became an adult, I realized how foolish and childish that was.  It was the emotion, and not my brain making that decision.

If someone gets desperate, sure.  He might get a call.

But right now what everyone has on hand is seen as a better option than Kaepernick.

I can't disagree.  He hasn't resembled anything close to good in a long, long time.  Before he got outplayed by Gabbert.

Kaepernick had one good year under Harbaugh's scheme and he fooled the people here into thinking he's any good.  Then he turned around and offended too many people, and now you want to label anyone a racist that doesn't welcome him back.  The problem is with your mentality, not mine.

He wants to make triple what our starting quarterback makes and thinks he's a starter in the NFL.  At least with Bortles we know he has talent, with Kaepernick you know what he brings to the table.

I've given a handful of reasons why I wouldn't want him, not just one, but all you see is color.....who is racist?

I was seriously thinking this today. id take numerous vet QBs.

Send RGIII over. I dont care what everyone on here says. He is a WAAYYYYY better option than Henne. Like seriously.

There's no point in having a Plan B because it detracts from Plan A.

Last thing I'll say about Kaepernick much like Tebow is that neither of the QBs skills outweigh the circus that comes with having them on their roster

I'll take Kaep over Chenne easy. The main reason Gabs beat out Kaep is because of Kelly's system where he wants a QB to turn and throw to a spot as soon as he reaches his dropback poiunt. Gabs does that much very well, but on most teams he's not about to beat out Kaep.

Except on the only team where they competed head to head. That makes total sense.

As far as the team having a backup plan at qb, it's the 2018 draft. Not some cast off no other team wants.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Henne has the best gig in town.  His stats over the past 2 years are as follows:

0 passes

1 rush for -2 yards

Dude made $8m over that course of time.

Hope he doesn't file a concussion lawsuit against the NFL claiming he was hit when he took a knee on the 1 snap.

I continually mocked a QB to the Jags in the 3rd or 4th round prior to the draft.  Mostly because I wanted them to find a plan B with more upside.

Not because I thought they'd actually do it.  I figured that was unlikely back in February.

Nonetheless - I think there is a real possibility of Henne being cut during preseason if he plays like he did in last year's preseason.  It was difficult to even watch him last year vs tampa and cincy in weeks two and three of the preseason. I can't imagine Coughlin seeing that and standing idly by.

Brandon Allen looked great in camp and then showed a few flashes in preseason games, but inevitably came out showing his inexperience and making some youthful blunders.

Hopefully when August rolls around he'll be ready to move up a spot on the depth chart.

Kaepernick had more than one good year.

He started the last nine games for the 49ers and posted 16 TDs, 4 INTs, and 6.9 yards per attempt. He did better than Bortles last year.

Jay Cutler not signed either.  Get over it.  They just aren't wanted.

I'd take Kaep over Henne, but I'd take Bortles over either of them.  I mean even if Blake doesn't pan out as a franchise guy, I wouldn't mind him as a backup.  Of course he might want to try to be a starter somewhere--but still if he doesn't pan out as the franchise guy him as a backup would be better than Kaep or Henne.

If Bortles does pan out as a franchise guy, then I think we need to replace Henne then.
