Carr vs Bortles round one

#81

Quote:LOL he hasn't regressed at all. Fans don't understand that coaching means everything. Belichick can lose Tom Brady and go 11-5 with Matt Cassell. It's the system. Gus Bradley doesn't have a system. Bortles is a gunslinger. O'Leary at UCF was maybe the most conservative coach in all of NCAA, he ran 2 yards and a cloud of dust over and over for years dating back to his Georgia Tech days. When he had Kevin Smith at UCF, he ran so much, he JUST MISSED Barry Sanders rushing record.

Then O'Leary adapted when he had Bortles. He and Charlie Taafe put Bortles in shotgun and the 2 minute offense and let him go to work. Bortles blew up and UCF was #9 and beat two top ten teams, only losing to #4 South Carolina 25-28 while going 13-1.

The point is, YOU play to people's strengths. Andy Reid won't have Alex Smith throwing 70 yard bombs all game. He will dink and dunk you to death.

What does Gus Bradley/Olson do? They runs on every first down and put Blake in 3rd and long situations. The Jags have a terrible staff. Most scouts think it's a joke they still have a job. Bortles should be let loose the way Drew Brees is.

The Jags made a mistake by hiring Gus Bradley over Jay Gruden. Gruden would have lit this offense on fire.

Bortles has regressed.

Quote:And so Geno Smith is a wildcat QB? They're both nothing like Pryor.

Watson is not an NFL QB. In 2015, he finished 34 for 80 (42.5%) on passes 20 yards or more down the field.

Watson would be more successful to become a slot WR like Braxton Miller. He and Lamar Jackson aren't accurate enough to be starters in the NFL.

We will see at the end of the year when he throws for 28-32 TD and has the Jags 7-9 to 9-7.

If you understood the history of young QBs and saw in YEAR 4 of Peyton Manning he had 23 INTs and then in YEAR 5 had another 19 INTs you would think differently.

3 of Blakes INTs weren't his fault.

By the end of the year, you'll be proven wrong like you were when you wanted Clowney or Manziel over Bortles.

You're probably gonna be mighty shocked when Watson is a top 5 pick this year.

Hate to break it you but we aint going 9-7 this year.

I'm not talking about stats. I'm talking about visible on the field play. Blake has taken a step back, or do you think he has improved?

I wanted Clowney or Manziel? News to me boii.

I won't be shocked in the slightest. So was Jared Goff. QBs are at a premium. I would just rate Kaaya and Chad Kelly MUCH MUCH higher NFL QBs. Luke Falk might be the best of them all.

The NFL is a different animal. Watson's downfield passing is worse than Teddy Bridgewaters was in college.

ALL Jags fans wanted:

1) Clowney

2) Mack

3) Manziel

4) Teddy

That's it. 98% of them were wrong. Like usual.

Never brings it up?

It's been at least a top 3 local storyline this year. Pat Kirwan was talking about it today on the national Sirius show.

Mack is bad? I believe he was an all-pro at 2 positions.

That's why I put him on ignore, I can't even put JDUB on ignore, that's how annoying he is.

She's not condescending as much as he is though, he's like hey I'm the king of the world (on a sinking boat) while she's just woosh over and over and you can't look away. I think you put it best I'll just quit while I'm ahead hah.

28-32 TDs for a quarterback starting 16 games in today's NFL isn't even all that great.

Fitzpatrick had like 33 TDs last year.

Everyone is putting up stats.  They're meaningless pretty much.

Just look at what quarterbacks are doing around the league.

As it stands right now, Bortles' QB rating is good for 33rd in the league.

That same metric wasn't that high in the days of Brunell for example.  Having a QB rating of 80 or 85 was pretty respectable.  Now that lands you in the bottom of the NFL.  The NFL is much different now.  We have to look at Bortles in the context of today's NFL, and not compare him to QBs in the 90s and say "wow, he threw 35 TD and for over 4000 yards"...

That it doesn't look too hot and he doesn't blame Robinson for dropping that TD because the ball was coming end over end like a punt.
