Bengals Week Updates

But Mike Brown can wear on you. About 1995 when I was in Virginia, Mike Brown started threatening to leave Cincinnati if the city didn't give him a new stadium. There was no way I was rooting for them if they moved. And there was no way I was going to switch to our rivals the Browns, so I made up my mind I was going to root for the Jaguars if that happened. It was either them or Carolina and Carolina had hideous uniforms.  But Cincinnati gave him the stadium, and my Bengal rooting went on.

in 1999 I moved to Jax and slowly they became my second team.  And as I observed both teams I saw one owner who did the minimum to win and help his team, and another (Weaver) who was doing everything he could to bring a winner and make football work in Jax. Finally in 2008 the Jags traveled to Cincy for a game we both needed. At that point I said if Mike Brown doesn't really care, neither do I. I became a Jags fan that day.  (Jags lost).

But ever since  I'm a Jags fan, and hoping to send Cincy to another defeat that Mike Brown really won't care about one way or another.

Thank you for your service, and I'd say to hell with all things Cincy, but having visited there many times, I'm not sure that would be a major relocation effort.

I have a feeling this Jags defense is going to have a huge week feeding off all of this Ramsey drama.

I could see a 5 sack day and a turnover or two.

I was just talking to a coworker about that

I think it has more to do with how bad the Bengals are than playing off emotion.

Bout '[BLEEP] time we had a QB that wanted, more than anything, to win.

The bungles road game is a must win IMO.

I actually hate the overused term, "must win game," but I don't see a winning way forward if the Jags can't handle this one. The Jets will be a tougher challenge than cincy.
That game is not a gimme at all with Darnold and Crowder showing good chemistry and Bell ready to take advantage of any poor gap fits we create.

Beating cincy will set the tone for the next stretch of games, several of which are "winnable" on paper if the team performs near it's potential.

Is Westbrook’s injury new? I’d hate to be down two WR’s and two TE’s on Sunday.

I’m all for resting guys until they’re fully healed from injuries, but jeez Oliver injured himself before preseason even started, no? It’s now week 7 and he can’t even practice?

He’s practicing.

He’s been available in limited practices the past few weeks now.

It was reported as a "Pretty significant" hamstring

Ask Marquise Lee how those things can derail a season for a player.

Rather make sure he's fully healthy upon returning instead of bringing him back and then losing him when it gets tight or reinjured.

I know we are desperate for TE help right now but not sure this rookie is going to cure all that ails us there either way

We better not be the Bengals' first win of the season

I agree NYC. I hate calling any week 7 game 'must win' but with all the Ramsey saga, coming off 2 L's, against a winless team, I think we NEED to win this one.

Just to get some positivity back, something to build on and like you say, that Jets game looks tougher than a few weeks ago.

A W would do us so much good. I worry at 2-5 and now with 2 first rounders we will have one eye on draft positions.

I'd hate for our season to be over before thanksgiving this year. Running game and defense has been a huge disappointment. All of our losses have been close games so there's at least that. I don't think we're in "blow it up" mode. This is where we find out what we really have.
No pain, no gain.

Running game has been better but they need to get Armstead involved more to give Fournette a breather.

In some of the games they've passed so much  or run so little that this hasn't been possible.

Marrone and Flip (like most coaches) believe in getting a powerback type of runner near twenty carries and he's only done that in half of the games thus far.

I would like to see Armstead as a spellback and Ozigbo as a C.o.P. back though. I like that type of rotation.

It's just weird to see Fournette trying to take himself out of the game breathing hard and they wave him back on the field while Armstead is chillin' nice and rested.
