There are worse ways to spend 2 hours than watching Carry-On on Netflix. Very good until the cliched ending.

I saw a great movie last night on Netflix.  "Number 24."  It's the true story of Gunnar Sønsteby, a Norwegian resistance fighter in WW2, who is the most-decorated Norwegian military person ever.

This will give you some idea of the esteem he is held in in Norway.

Norway’s most highly decorated hero, resistance fighter Gunnar Sønsteby, was hailed with the gratitude of an entire nation when King Harald, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and a long list of dignitaries paid their final respects at his state funeral on Friday. Two of Sønsteby’s grandsons remembered him simply as “bestefar,” adding that “we are all eternally grateful.”

Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) carried Gunnar Sønsteby’s state funeral live on national television
Sønsteby, who died May 10 at the age of 94, was honoured with a full state funeral in the Oslo Cathedral that also was carried out in formal military style. Sønsteby’s casket was draped with the Norwegian flag, royal guards stood at attention both around the casket and outside the cathedral, and it all ended with fighter jets flying over the cathedral in the “missing man” formation. Inside the cathedral were no less than seven former Norwegian defense ministers...

I wouldn’t necessarily quantify it is a movie, but Mare of Easttown on Max was really good.  I believe it was six or seven parts/episodes.

I have that movie saved to my list. I'm glad to hear a good review of it. It's interesting to learn how other countries participated in WW2. A series I watched back around 2018 called The Heavy Water War was fascinating.

From IMDB: The story behind Germany's attempt to develop an atomic bomb during World War II and the sabotage of the heavy water program in Rjukan, Norway from the points of view of the Germans, the Allies, the saboteurs, and the company.

That series as well as the limited tv series Nobel got me interested in other Norwegian television series which led to Icelandic and Swedish series.

The old man you see talking to the students during the movie is actually him- Gunnar Sønsteby.  By the way, the film is in Norwegian, but you can switch the dialogue to English.

I'll try to find The Heavy Water War movie.  I know the story and it's really incredible.

Watched Dune Part 1 last night and going to watch Dune Part 2 tonight.

Gotta admit, Part 1 was ok but I was not wowed by it as the reviews seem to favor. Nevertheless, Part 2 is supposed to be better so I'm hoping this one does it for me.

I like trying out all types of movies and am impressed by the creativity of some of these writers and such.

I've seen them both and liked part one better than part two but that could just be me.

I turned on Part 2 last night but didn't have the attention span to watch for 2 hours and 44 minutes so I'll watch it next week ....   I think part of my problem with these types of movies is that I'm easily distracted but in these types of films, I think one really needs to pay attention and follow the storyline without looking at their phone as I typically do ...

I've watched Part One about four times and catch something different each time. I've watched Part Two twice so far. I have ADHD (inattentive) so it can be hard for me to watch movies that have details that actually matter to the story (the Matrix trilogy killed me) and it's especially hard when it's the end of the day and my meds have worn off. For some reason I haven't had that problem with Part One.

We just watched The Beekeeper on Prime and wasn't disappointed. Jason Statham delivers every time. Sometimes you just need a guy to kick everyone's [BLEEP] with no apologies.
