The 2015 Recruiting/Signing Day Thread

Quote:Let's go Gators! And rankings only matter if the players reach those rankings.
Could jump into Top 25, possibly top 20 tomorrow. Not bad considering where they were when new staff finally got in place.

Quote:Quick, name the 5 star recruits that are on the MSU roster. A quality coach like Mullen can get the best out of ALL of his players. Just gotta coach them up. (IIRC Bortles was only a 3 star recruit.)
Blaine Gabbert was 5 star and the best High School qb and so was Driskel

Funny how it happens both ways. I always chuckle to myself when I see her ignorant blanket assessments lol.

This is the latest take as of yesterday. I still think Jefferson is going to Auburn. I still hold out hope for Cowart to UF. Only a short time away now and we will know.

Cowart announced at 9:05 so we'll know right off the bat. M

Also, I guess the thread that says "recruiting" wasn't good enough.

you're not going to be a 5 star if you are playing high school ball at a run heavy option school.  But that is exactly what GT is looking for. I don't care that they are all 3 stars if they can run the triple option they are dangerous.

I remember the Super Bowl where Pittsburgh played Green Bay. Of all the starters on both teams, there was one "five star" recruit, Pittsburgh LB Lawrence Timmons.

I always think of this when I see someone grade a recruiting class.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Timmons was a high 4*, not a 5*.

Ah, my bad. Thanks for the correction. I took it on face value that was true.

On another note, I had no idea that "stars" had "levels". Ya learn something new every day.

I'm pretty sure this last Super Bowl was the same thing.  No 5 stars at all (at least thats what one of the announcers said)

Nope none, and very few four stars.

Stars are for fans who follow recruiting. These gurus who assign these stars base a lot of what happens on who offers who when. If a kid is offered by a big school as a freshman or a sophomore he's obviously a stud in their eyes. I think the vast majority of those recruiting analysts don't do much film work.

CeCe Jefferson is making his decision at home.  That's kind of different?

My guess is because he's not a Gator. Baker County is Gator Country when it comes to football. They are a passionate small town. If that's the case, good decision to do at home.

I hope I am wrong.

That was my guess and Prosser hinted at that on the radio, but Hicken seemed to shoot it down.

I wonder what they actually do

Base rankings and stars off of what college they commit to, and how many schools recruit them.

I guess they are more like a Jay Glazer or Chris Mortensen. Not really journalists and not possessing any type of football acumen. Just able to work sources and get information first.
