2017 Recruiting Thread

Stricklin is moving along quickly with improving football facilities. He knows that is a key today if you want to win. Some of the stuff planned is pretty dang impressive.

Not sure how accurate this is. I believe this would put an end to the satellite camps? Quote:https://twitter.com/InsidetheNCAA/status...1042022400 I'm sure someone will find a loophole.
Quote:I'm sure someone will find a loophole. Introducing the University of Michigan mini campus at the IMG Academy....

Quote:Introducing the University of Michigan mini campus at the IMG Academy.... Lol, funny you mention that because many people were thinking the big news today was going to be that the Dolphins owner (and Michigan alum) was going to open a Michigan mini campus for the team to come down and use. That ended up not being it.
I can't imagine an off site campus would be allowable anyway. I imagine that would be shut down before it ever happened.
The Harbaugh Rule just passed. No off campus practices during vacation time.

Per Chris Balas:
"The plan – not necessarily in response to the NCAA’s legislation, though it probably is – is to take the team to Rome, Italy this spring for a week of spring ball, followed by study abroad for several members of the football team (not just limited to Rome, we’ve heard). This has been in the works since last fall but a trip like this requires plenty of planning and great detail. Team doctors were told to get their passports ready, etc., and to prepare."
I will be interested to see if they pull this off, and how the public reacts to money being used to send kids to another country to practice football.
I'll be honest, it is a great recruiting tool, but I find it a tremendous waste of money to spend money that can be used on sending kids to college, updating the school, etc....it's football, put on your chin strap, buckle up, and play. If you are a better coach, recruiter and you play better the wins and titles will come. You are doing all these gimmicks to try and win. It all seems so contrived. With that said, I'm surprised he didn't pick a place like Thailand.

Michigan football brings the university enough money to where something like this shouldn't be questioned too much, IMO. Regarding the bold, recruiting is a huge part of the process. Southern teams have a huge built in advantage when it comes to recruiting, so these gimmicks are in place to help try and offset that.
4 Star Kai Leon Herbert backs off of Michigan commitment.

What the hell happened to Florida's recruiting? Jimmy boy is going to have to go based on his poor record of recruiting alone. Georgia is going to be a beast over the next few years, and deservedly so.

Right now Mac is the least well known coach in the state, aside from maybe UCF. I like the guy, but I don't know if he is THE guy.

We'll never win any accolades for best recruiting class, but Hokies had a very good weekend.
Flipped a 4* from Penn State, and had some other nice hauls. http://www.gobblercountry.com/2017/1/24/...t-done-yet
"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."
Kai-Leon Herbert commits to Miami. Thought he would end up at UF. Miami is also pushing for Chris Henderson who is thought to be a Gator lean.
