Quote:Something gone from all this is with the news that we are going to let him walk, pretty much admits we made a mistake not trading him at the holdout. There were apparently suitors who inquired but we turned them all down. -- And for what?...for 2 wins in 2012 and 4 wins in 2013?Who? Who were the suitors? Do you have any proof at all? By saying we should have traded him, you're pretty much contradicting yourself. You say the Jaguars shouldn't sign a 30 year old end of the road RB, yet you think we could have traded him? For what, exactly? Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div>
20 years 20 million. 1 million Guaranteed. Reach 1700 yds rushing every year for the next 10 years and get a 100 million bonus. Next 10 years reach 800 yds rushing and get a 1 billion dollar bonus.
Let someone else overpay for him. He's been one of my favorite players, but there's no way we can offer what he wants. It's really a win-win by letting him walk. Either we don't overpay for a RB with a ton of wear on him, or we get back our starting RB for a fraction of the cost.

don't we all. He's nuts though if he thinks he's getting it from the Jaguars.
No pain, no gain.
And I want to be a tall Swedish bikini super model...but that ain't gonna happen either!
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:MJD has stated numerously that he would like to finish his carerer in jacksonville, as positive of a role model as he has been in the community the evidence is there that he does care about jacksonville. get your facts together man.Yeah, like clocking "hillbilly" at the Conch House? And holding out on a contract legally signed by him? Yep, real role model. With a user name such as yours I understand why you can be biased. Saying he'd like to finish in Jacksonville is merely player speak. He also said it's not in his control! Can you believe that too? He said it's in the control of his agent and the Jag organization. Well hello braniac, the agent works for you and you tell the agent what you will agree to, not the other way around. Regards................the Chiefjag
MJD has clearly stated it is about the money. That's fine, it's a business. I'm glad we now have a GM that also recognizes this. Personally I am indifferent as to whether or not he is back. He is still a talent, just not the same one he used to be. We will see if he is cognitive of that fact or not as the terms of any new contract come out. Maybe there is a nice market out there for him, stranger things have happened.

The bottom line is the rb position has diminished in importance.. Shifty quick rb's who can make plays in the passing game seem to be the new trend. I doubt Drew is worth any where near as much as he thinks he is. Good luck to him

I doubt Drew is worth any where near as much as he thinks he is. Good luck to him Even the Chiefs game last night showed it, they lost 2 RBs and the 3rd guy still had a nice game. We probably already have 2 guys on the roster who will be good enough to do the job. Another mid-round pick would probably complete the roster for the next 2 or 3 years. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Having a shifty running back, like a Sproles, is important so I can see your point there. But having a tough back that can finish plays by punishing the tackler is a big deal, especially when you're trying to protect lead and run out the clock. The chiefs sorely missed Charles and the other guy. The third stringer couldn't get the job done when the chiefs really needed him. I'm not saying MJD is a franchise RB anymore, but I think it's to early to undervalue what he brings to a team.
They scored 44 points and lost. That isn't on the offense in any way. The defense collapsed. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:They scored 44 points and lost. That isn't on the offense in any way. The defense collapsed. Oh no doubt. I was just speaking specifically about the RB situation. You would agree that having a power running game that could have kept them "on schedule" with down and distance would have help them control the clock and the game would you not? As for the Defense, you're absolutely right that they had a pretty bad collapse. They gave luck all the underneath stuff, which he loves and is good at hitting. Then blew the coverage on the TY Hilton TD pass down the middle. Not to mention, on the luck fumble recovery and TD, it looked like the entire D stopped playing after the fumble... I almost wondered if they thought the whistle blew or something.

I agree that power running is helpful, but I think what Mojo has left could be gained/replaced with a mid-round pick. The Chiefs were certainly hurt losing a guy like Charles who's a top 10 player in the whole league IMO, I just don't think Mojo will ever have that kind of impact on a game again. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:Screw MJD. Todd Gurley with the 12th pick of the 2015 NFL draft.I second the Todd Gurley pick, but I don't think we'll be picking at 12 ![]() ![]() Go JAGS!!
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!
I agree with anchorman. Had Charles been available K.C. could have moved the chains while using up the clock and keeping the Indy offense on the bench. Without Charles they had to convert to a more passing game to move the chains which stops the clock on all incompletions and at the same time subjecting themselves to turnovers. Not having a power running game allowed the Colts time to make a comeback.

I can understand that. I am of the opinion that MJD has more in the tank than most people realize. We'll see what happens next season, of course. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I just see MJD has still being much better than most, especially with a good offseason. The key will be getting back to his playing weight of 3 seasons ago. This is obviously my opinion, and I could be wrong. I just have a feeling he's gonna have a break out year next year. And no, I'm not his agent. |
