I'm surprised that colleges aren't running a more pro type system. I mean if you can get a winning program that's yielding a lot of NfL prospects, I'd assume it'd make recruiting easier.

I don't understand that either. Even schools that usually don't have a lot of NFL prospects should move toward schemes that make the transition easier IMO because in a few years they could produce some elite rosters.

Also... we've been throwing too much and not running well enough.

 

He's a tough guy to play through all this mess... but he still needs to play better.

So here's the thing. Yo Boy thinks Bradshaw is just 'making excuses', and clearly doesn't have any more insight into the reality than Yo Boy does. Hey, what does this Terry Bradshaw guy (4× Super Bowl champion, 2× Super Bowl MVP, 3× Pro Bowl, First-team All-Pro, NFL Most Valuable Player, Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year, 2× NFL passing touchdowns leader, NFL 1970s All-Decade Team) know about quarterbacks, am I right? Especially when compared to the gut feeling of Yo Boy (...).


But a disgruntled college football blogger with an axe to grind about E J Manuel, complete with stats showing that Chris Weinke, Rick Mirer, Brandon Weeden, Ken Dorsey and Ryan Tannehill are better than Peyton Manning? That's enough to change the way he thinks about Doug Marrone.

I'm actually pretty torn on this subject.  I'm imagining a 29 year old Bortles still having to go back to a QB passing trainer each offseason to make sure that he doesn't revert to his natural throwing motion, cause it's hard for me to believe that motion being fixed permanently.  The fact that Bortles admitted that he was not a natural thrower definitely helps form this opinion.

 

But again I don't think that it's impossible, just highly unlikely.  I'm starting to feel like he's approaching "game manager" rather than "franchise QB."

Sure - it's possible he never is able to improve the mechanics enough to be more than a game manager. And yes,  he'll probably always have to ingrain proper technique every offseason to be at least a "game-manager."

A.  40 year-old Tom Brady will still be going to his throwing coach every offseason like he always has

B.  "game-manager" would be a big step up from 2016

There is no reason to imagine a 24-year old  QB doing exactly the same things at age 29 that he did at age 24. A lot of changes already happened this year and will happen in the next five years.

Honestly Bortles doesn't even have to fix his mechanics all the way. At the very least if he needs to be sloppy just be like Matt Stafford side-arm sloppy which I actually noticed he started doing after the Detroit game. All guys don't throw the same way. They just need to find a way to meet BB in the middle without it hurting him or the team.

If that is the case.  How come tebow never developed and blaine and countless others.  It is easy in situations with plenty of time to change stuff.  Against blitzing teams will resort back to what has done forever. 

 

You all act like Brady was trash from day one.
