4 pm has come and gone. No tags for Cobb or Bulaga.

Quote:Well, I was hoping this thread wouldn't simply devolve into everyone unrealistically coveting every top FA like always...but here we are.

Franchise tags are given to free agents, so it is a natural progression in the discussion. But I agree this thread went the wrong direction.

This is why I will not start any more official threads until April 30.

Well, that was less painful than predicted. Suh is definitely the best player on the market, but McCourty by far my #1 target considering the need is much higher and he shouldn't require as big of a deal (even though it will be very big too if he doesn't work out an early deal w/ the Pats).

Now we just need the other 7 teams with 40+ mil in cap space, and the 10 teams on top of that with 20+ mil, to stay away!

Suh is priority number one, especially with Marks a questionmarks for the start and with miller coming of a knee surgery

Mccourty shouldnt even be in the convo right now

Suh is the 2nd best defensive lineman in the league

Yeah the elite guy at arguably our most immediate defensive need is a waste of time
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I could also win the lottery.

While I would welcome Suh, good FS play would help this defense more than just about anything. It needs good play at FS and we have yet to see that.

McCourty would be a huge signing but I'm feeling he'll be a Patriot.

in all this suh talk, you guys do remember we still need a RT right

Yeah McCourty and then a solid veteran presence at RT would be my two biggest wishes in FA.

so you guys are cool with Marks and Miller coming off of major knee surgeries, and you're okay with the run defense being poor?

Ideally 4 Big Free Agents to sign

1. Devin McCourty - FS - Patriots - 10.5 Mil/Yr

2. Julius Thomas - TE - Broncos - 10 Mil/Yr

3. Jerry Hughes - DE Leo - Bills - 10.5 Mil/Yr

4. Brian Bulaga - ORT - Packers - 10 Mil/Yr

4 Players - average 41 Mil/Yr

Perhaps

5. Akeem Ayers - Otto LB - 3.5 Mil/Yr

6. Tyson Alualu - DE - 3.5 Mil/Yr

7. Resign remaining Jag Free Agents - 3 Mil

51 Mil spent - leaving more than 15 Mil to move to next year.

Let's leave some money in the til in case something comes up.

Miller will be fine. The big question mark is Marks. But regardless, No, this is a much deeper FA AND draft class for DTs than it is for FS.

If push comes to shove we can free up nearly 15 mill by cutting Poz and Lewis.
