Eagles currently -10 favorites over Jaguars

You'd think so...but unfortunately, not here.

Quote:Yes, to be a real Jags fan, you must belittle and diminish the upcoming opponent every Sunday.

Any credit you may give the opponent will be looked at/ labeled as being a fan of the opponent.

It's a really insecure way of looking at things.

No, Im agreeing with you.  We have no chance against Shady and all those Eagles weapons under Chip.  I thought maybe we could steal a victory this week by surprise, but you have really talked me out of that.  Thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Eagles win by 20+.

I'm seeing a 28-20 Eagles victory. I live in the Philadelphia area, so I have become pretty well acquainted with the Eagles (although I will still be rocking my Jaguars teal at the stadium this Sunday).

In my opinion, while the Eagles offense is going to really miss Jackson, the matchup(s) that will hurt the Jaguars do not revolve around the WR position or Nick Foles. I am worried about how the Jacksonville LBs are going to match up with the sideline to sideline action they will see from McCoy/Sproles with some TE action thrown into the mix. I actually feel better about a guy like Dekoda Watson in this matchup than I do Poz, just because he is quicker and has a better chance at keeping up with this speed.

With that being said, if the defensive line can show up to play (the Eagles o-line has not looked great in the preseason and they will be without their starting RT) and pressure Nick Foles, the Jaguars have a chance in this game. Foles has looked shaky under pressure in the preseason, and I believe he is going to regress somewhat given the Eagles' WR situation.

This seems a little hypocritical.  You, as an Eagles fan, have been belittling my Jaguars on this message board for a long time.  How can you say its wrong for me, a Jaguars fan, to make fun of the Eagles?

I've said it before, the Eagles best defender this week might be Chad Henne, we'll have a chance to score some points against one of the worst defensive units in all of football on Sunday. If Chad is efficient on 3rd down and doesn't turn the ball over, I believe we have a chance to win this game, but not on the heels of our defense. This game has the makings for a shootout.

What about Telvin Smith?  Is he not fast enough?

I will step up! Jags win a hard fought game, thanks to great defense.

I still can't seem to figure out how the Jaguars are going to move the ball with a QB that slings the ball into the ground every 5 attempts.

Is it possible that they could end up being the lowest rated passing team again?

Chad did look bad with a vanilla pre season offense. But as the Jags open the playbook, we will see a different QB and offense. Not that they will blow the doors off, but a much better showing than the preseason.

But it's not ok to say tha Jaguars defense might not be overmatched?

They certainly didn't looked overmatched against the starting offenses of Detroit, Chicago or Tampa. I don't remember Calvin Johnson, Alshon Jeffrey or Brandon Marshall exposing the defense.

Its a shame this game wasn't later in the year....

I'd love to see what Bortles could do in a shootout type of game.

I think the Eagles should consider themselves lucky with the timing of this game. Had it been in November or December, the Jags likely would have had a much better chance of winning it.

They're going to throw a lot of short slants and checkdowns and hope that the guys catching those passes this year are good enough to make it work.

Yep, this is pretty much all Henne can do.

But he really knows the offense well and can get the team into and out of the huddle quickly, so that counts for something, right?

Quote:They did score 448 points last year.....in Kelly's first season....

I don't anticipate that number dropping. If anything, I anticipate it improving now that more Eagle players have familiarity with the offense/ terminology.

So you don't expect any regression from Nick Foles?

He's really on pace to throw 48 TDs

I expect a much higher INT total from Foles in 2014 than 2013.
