Ramsey has been the best CB in the NFL this past month...

I'd feel embarrassed for him if it weren't so hilarious to watch.

KYJaggy pretending he hasn't read this thread since "leaving" is pretty sad.

Quote:Interesting how one can let stats color what your own eyes should be making very clear to you.

I couldn't give a rat's [BAD WORD REMOVED] about "passer rating against" or completion %.

The kid clearly played great for a rookie and better than many starting vets.

No additional qualifiers needed. Watch the damn games. It's plain as day that he wasn't a "below average corner" for any significant length of time of the season. Nothing could be plainer to see.

Twisting up this kid's performance in his rookie year with a bunch of convoluted stats is a classic fool's errand.

Amen.

Quote:A strong statement.

As intriguing as it is to consider/debate, you may well be right.

The really sad part is there aren't many even worthy of comparison since FT.

Agreed. Very short list. MJD would be the obvious competitor, you could throw in DD, Mathis, Stroud, Henderson, etc. But to be completely fair, in terms of how much was asked of a rookie, the argument could also be made that 20 is our best since Boselli.

MJD had Fred to lean on, Fred had Stewart to lean on, Henderson had Stroud to lean on. Ramsey has been tasked with the opposing offense's primary weapon for the majority of the season, and with a very inconsistent pass rush. And he's been phenomenal.

KY can spout whatever stats PFF feeds him, use your eyes, 20 is a transcendent talent. He learns from his mistakes both throughout a game (Jeffrey) and between games. Constant improvement while playing against, and asking to be lined up against, the best competition out there.

Ramsey is a flat out stud.

I can't believe I read this entire thread and didn't jump to post right away instead. Anyone trying to use PFF stats over watching how good Ramsey has been this year with their own eyes is clearly an idiot, troll, or both. There is no doubt that he's already one of the top CB's in the league in his ROOKIE season. I would have never expected a rookie CB to come in and play at a near pro bowl level like Ramsey has done this year. Apparently there should be an IQ test before allowing people to post on this forum.

The problem we have with KY is his "take" on the stats. The numbers he's talking about are important stats (comp %, rating, etc) but they need context and he refused to see that context. Many of us just laid out exactly where those stats came from and how the numbers he talks about aren't black and white, but he just won't hear it.

At least he's not throwing around the "yards per coverage snap" or whatever was the popular PFF grade to hype up McCray

Agree.

You have to be able to use both. Take some stats and also check your eyes.

It's like from last year. Blake had some great stats but your eyes can tell you he still needed a lot of work.

Maybe Ramsey doesn't have elite stats but my eyes tell me that you won't find a better young shutdown corner in the league.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Better than the ASPCA, st Jude's, or the humane society commercials that make me sad and want to open my wallet!

Quote:What kind of whack hyperbole are you attempting here? The more apt statement would be: according to teal colored Jags MB a CB can allow catches at a near league worst rate and for a near league high passer rating and still be considered great.

Cause that's what the truth was in both cases for the first 10 weeks or so. He really started turning it around during the Lions game but I haven't seen anyone post his full season rates anymore since then unfortunately.

Read throught the twitter link... ramsey has given up 619 yards in 15 games thats only 42 yards a game and a 74 qbr... now thats with bad pass rush, being a rookie, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, covering the opposing teams BEST wr.. something only a handful of guys in the league do. He does it as a rookie making those numbers even more impressive. If they just played him on a single side those numbers would likely be cut in half.

Dude is a future all pro for years to come if your eye cant see that from watching him, then u dont know football. Amd I am NOT a teal colored jags type guy
