He didn't succeed here because he's a hopeless moron who's incapable of learning anything because he believes he knows everything already. He also didn't succeed here because his heart was in the wrong place. He cares about himself and nobody else. He only took the job because he thought Lawrence was his ticket to fame at the games highest level. His grandiose sense of self-worth prevented him from putting in the work required to succeed at this level. He's basically Matt Jones at the coaching level, though Matt wasn't nearly the reprehensible turd Meyer is.

The interview he gave a few weeks ago confirms this. He went into the NFL with no clue of how practice schedules and team organization works. You would think a guy would at least do a little research before jumping into a job, or at least try to get control of the situation once he saw the bottom falling out.

Even Jimmy Johnson admitted to being blindsided when he took the job at Dallas. He says he was under the impression that pro players were self-motivated at practicing and preparing for a game. When he saw that wasn’t the case he stepped up and took control. His statement was if he was going to fail, he was going to fail his way. Meyer just stood to the side and warmed his hands with the flames of the conflagration he ignited.

I don't buy for a second that he had no clue how the NFL worked. It's just him trying to make an excuse for how inept he was as an NFL coach. When he was hired he bragged about how much research he had done the year before about the NFL.

I say this in all seriousness, but these same guys have a video explaining why Josh McCown is a candidate for the job.

I don't know if I could post the video without violating CoC on some level.  If what they say is true (and it seems the only plausible explanation given the circumstances) it's funny as hell, and makes me feel a little better about our decade of ineptitude.

Him being completely inept as an NFL coach is evidence of his lack of NFL knowledge, no? And Urban is a pathological liar, so the one thing you should absolutely disbelieve is that Urban put many research hours into it.

Wow, you just jumped to a new level of saltiness now that your dad/husband/cousin/maybe Darrell (whomever you are anyway) didn't get the HC position.  Guess we won't see and hear from you much longer, much less in 5 years to revisit this thread.

FWIW, I like Darrell and wish him well.  Please tell him I said so.  And I think a lot of people here probably feel that way...  Your stubborn insistence has pushed a lot of people to take anti-Darrell stances that wouldn't normally have been considered otherwise.
