5. Anton (RT)
6 Little  as swing tackle,

I'm so confused. How does that solve anything? It is just putting the team in neutral?
I could actually live with all of this except #3. If Fortner is starting again might as well get the cart for TLaw now. If we get competent center play I think if you keep everything else the same the line will be "good enough." Of course, I hope they do more to upgrade via FA and the draft.

This is the most offensive few lines of 2024 so far.  I think you win, sir.

I know it is. I just listened to those 2 guys when interviewed yesterday, it was a depressing event. I would suggest everyone do the same. My opinion has been since mid season we have 3 tackles that are serviceable. So #1, #5 and #6 are fine with me.

We do need 2 guards and a center. They are not on the roster currently. I appreciate some of our longer term o-line players, they know the system and can be counted on to attempt to execute their jobs. They can also be counted on to be ineffective in those attempts these last few years, especially on 3rd and short. They get bypassed by swim moves, double teams get split or they just get run over. This has us lining up in shotgun on 3rd and short continuously.  My hope is they are just being polite at the present.
A new broom always sweeps clean.

FWIW, people like Oesher and Shipley seem to think the Jags move on from Scherff. Ship also doesn't see anyway they use a 1st rounder on a center (JPJ).

So as of today (the ever changing opinion) we are looking at

Cam Cleveland Vet Vet/rookie Anton

2 or 3 new starters are needed if not another mid season on the way.

6 Little as swing tackle,

I truly believe Baalke likes this team pretty much as it is.

Standing pat with an O-Line that was pathetic last year?? Not to mention retaining Robinson and Sheriff will severely restrict what can be done in free agency. Three new starters minimum are needed imho. Nasty, physical “maulers”.

It’s time. It’s past time. Trent Baalke has to go!!

You guys should not read too much into these press conferences. Someone on the radio this morning described it best: what these guys should do in press conferences at this point in the offseason- don't say anything important, and don't lie. I have heard what Baalke and Pederson said, and that was it: a whole lot of nothing, but no lies. They're not going to tell you what they're really thinking.

"We like the players we have, and we're going to add competition."

They're not going to tell you they're replacing several starters. Why would they tell you that?

Yep. Agreed. Said something similar when Dan Hicken posted his concerns about it.

Exactly what I said yesterday.  The biggest question is what's smoke and what isnt

As far as LT I'd feel much better if Little didn't decline a bit last year. If we trade Cam and Little has a whole offseason at LT with the ones maybe he can get back to his 2022 form

Shad's next building project should be a conference room and table big enough for everyone in the fanbase that wants one to have a seat at.  Then everyone should get a chance to speak as well to show off those big brains of theirs.  He could run the draft from in there too with live voting before each pick is submitted. Might actually get a few hits that way.

Our Biggest need is at Center, I don't care if we keep Cam and Scherff, we NEED to fix the C and LG spots.
I would be fine with a line of:

Cam(Little)
Cleveland(New G)
New C(Fortner)
Scherff(Tugboat)
Anton (New T)
()= reserves

In this scenario ^^^^ we would get at least three new players for the OL in either FA or the draft(or both)

If you look through Etienne's highlights this season most of his big runs was behind Scherff, don't know if I want to create another hole on our OL.

I just don't see them adding three new starters to this unit in one off season. Seems like it's too much overhaul. Continuity is king when it comes to that group. I think they'll look to make no less than two moves and that's about it.

An upgrade at LG.
An upgrade at C.

The upgrade at C may not be apparent right away but they'll more than likely sign a mid tier veteran instead of a top tier player available that could challenge Fortner immediately. I could see them drafting another offensive tackle and guard in general though. The best bets for versatility would be Christian Haynes & Graham Barton.

I still think LT is up for debate. I am not convinced this team is sold on Cam Robinson nor Walker Little. Between the cap hit and the durability concerns. That's a glaring issue and at least Pederson had enough sense to say that, what they would probably consider their "best five", they didn't play a full game together until the season finale.

That to me sounds like you SHOULD draft better lineman early or sign better lineman early because you can't depend on them stay healthy to begin with. We all saw what happened as well. As that unit continued to weaken and regress, so did the running game, and so did Lawrence. Then the injuries took a toll on Lawrence because he was either getting decked, stepped on or simply trying to compensate and make-up for the five man anchor in front of him weighing him down with every chance they had.

Again, the fact that they traded for Ezra Cleveland before the deadline last year is, once again, an indictment on Baalke and the scouting department along with the coaching staff. It's an admission of failure. Same can be said for the selection of Walker Little.

This team was so starved with depth and starting quality players as a unit along the line that they had to immediately backfill Taylor's spot at RT with Harrison and then they were going to leave themselves in the same exact situation with Walker Little for two years in a row of having to compete for a starting job because he's not good enough to outright start at LT nor RT. Otherwise Cam Robinson was an afterthought by now.

This team would have a much better roster than it has the last 15 years

LOL, maybe actually throwing darts at a list of names each draft would probably have been better. Letting some of you yahoos in on the decisions would be like giving a toddler a rattlesnake.

I'm going to assume that Baalke plans on keeping Robinson as long as he agrees to a new deal saving the team cap money next season. This would not have been my decision, but it tells me that the coaches have concerns about Walker Little. I thought Little was fine when starting the 1st 4 games at left tackle and would have saved the team a lot of money. Therefore, we must chalk this up to another bad draft pick by Baalke taking Little in round 2.

L.T. : Cam Robinson

L.G. : Ezra Cleveland ( Again, coaches seem to like him. Played well in Minnesota when healthy and can play tackle if necessary).

Center: Free agent (preferably Cushenberry or James)

R.G. : Damien Lewis (free agent)

R.T. : Anton Harrison

It's a hard job, for sure. I think it's easier when it's just average joe's and jane's looking at big boards, youtube highlights and not actually in a War Room with 15 minutes on the clock and a bunch of people looking at you like a puppy with beggar's look in their eyes.

Only one team wins the Superbowl every year, and, while it's impressive that some teams can build really good rosters and find really good players in various rounds? It means [BLEEP] all once their contracts expire, someone gets injured or they simply keep falling short and run out of time.

Nobody's going to remember John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan the way that they will remember Brett Veach and Andy Reid. It's just the way it is.
