All you need is a franchise QB. Defense doesn't matter anymore.

Oh wait.

Quote:I comment that we need to keep things in perspective because while Geno looked really impressive tonight, it is still only one game and vs a garbage defense. I think that is a pretty fair analysis.

Do you agree or disagree?

I agree. I've never disagreed with this.

But my point is that 32 NFL GMs passing on Geno one time around does little to convince me about how his career will go, one way or another. It doesn't preclude him from being a great quarterback, and it certainly doesn't mean he's going to prove he belonged in the first round.

On Wisconsin.

Keep telling yourself that. Geno is the man.

I would expect a QB taken in the 2nd round to be able to have good games here and there, especially against trash defenses. If Geno supporters don't look goofy for two really, really bad games (New England, Tennessee) then Geno doubters shouldn't look goofy for one really, really, good game (Atlanta). Small sample sizes.

Giants and Eli Manning.... 0-5.

Falcons and Matt Ryan.... 1-4.

Packers and Aaron Rodgers.... 2-2.

Redskins and RGIII.... 1-3

Panthers and Cam Newton.... 1-3.

Cowboys and Tony Romo.... 2-3.

Chargers and Phillip Rivers.... 2-3.

Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger.... 0-4.

This is definitely a QB league There is no denying that. However, I think defense is undervalued.

The difference is that Geno is on a terrible team and as a rookie growing pains should somewhat be the norm. Games like this show you that Geno has "it". Not many people go into Atlanta and win, especially the way he responded after his D coughed up the lead.

A lot of QBs look really good against Atlanta. It is going to take one good game vs Atlanta for me to consider Geno a franchise QB.

Really? I'm done talking football with you. That's the most ridiculous thing I've read in a while.

seriously what is wrong with atlanta. that defense is terrible, getting beat by 2nd string WRs, crappy RBs, and a rookie QB at home.

You are the one that said "everyone is keeping this in perspective". Do you think that is true? Those who spent months saying how Geno was worth the #2 pick have been waiting for a game like this to come out and say "See? He was worth the #2 pick!". I agree, it was a really good game. If you want objectiveness from my side, though, at least acknowledge that those saying this game proves he was worth a 1st round pick are really jumping the gun.

geno has a really good defense.  his D made the stop, the refs made a terrible call. he was pretty clutch though.  and the  teddy nut huggers blast me for wanting an improved defense and a 2nd round QB lol
