Don't have the time this month to do a Filmroom breakdown post. But it's obvious to anyone with eyes the improvement week to week to week. A good portion of those interceptions are plays that receivers don't make and it bounces off for a turnover (see hollister last sunday).

There were 2 throws that show he's the best in the class (don't care about Mac Jones' completion % and him getting a single victory against the hapless jets/other rookie qb). 

1) Q1 5:22 left on the clock, 1st & 10 - Play action, feels the pressure on the blindside, moves in the pocket to the right and fires a LASER in a tight window for a 1st down to MJJ.   

2) Q2 :30 left on the clock, 2nd & 5 - 2 by 2 set, smash type concept against the Cardinals Zone, Lawrence puts it ON THE MONEY with touch over 2 cardinal defenders and with a few feet to spare to come down in bounds for a perfectly thrown TD to DJ Chark.

Those 2 throws are worlds better than anything the other rookie QB's have done to this point. The first throw I haven't seen a Jags QB make since Garrard was here. The 2nd .... I'm not sure if i've EVER seen a Jags QB (maybe Brunell when I was a kid) make that type of money throw. And that was to cap a 2 min. drive and tie the game (kick-6 pandemonium we were unaware was to come) against a solid cardinals defense.


Lawrence passes the "eye test" with flying colors. his average depth of target is much deeper than the other rookies, his passing array has him throwing the whole route tree and looking to hit spots all over the field. While the other rookies are just game managing for the most part. We can teach Lawrence to be cool, and patient with the ball, it's much harder for the other rookies to learn how to be fearless, trust what they see, and be aggressive taking shots downfield. Lawrence will end up being the best of this class all he needs is experience and for the team to continue to add talent around him; and most importantly this team needs to GROW WITH LAWRENCE!!! It's his team now, start getting everyone to rally around him.

To me, Lawrence alternates between stretches of brilliance (2 minute drive to end the first half against the Cardinals) and stretches of looking like a rookie QB. But you can see the potential.

Exactly. Hes going through the rookie learning process which is ups and downs. I still maintain im happy seeing him try and take the big shots. Yes he needs to learn when to take them but look at someone like Mahomes, how many bombs does he throw? He just happens to have Hill who's one of the fastest players in the league which helps him out.

We need to give Lawrence the pieces around him to make his talent take us to that next level and the WR group we all thought was one of our best units have been poor so far.

He is going to be really good here pretty soon.

If the flea flicker is blocked correctly, it's likely a 60+ yard TD to Chark. Then if Hollister doesn't drop that ball in the red zone, that leads to a TD or FG. I really liked what I saw in the Cards game and he should be able to build upon that against a defense that's not on the level of Arizona or Denver.

He’s an extremely talented QB who is testing his limits. Remember how Bortles turned into Mr. Checkdown? Lawrence should use those as a tool, but he’s also a guy who realizes his potential and is willing to take the risk. Good judgement comes with experience. TL is going to be just fine.

Lawrence gives me hope that he can take a mid teir line and make then better. He seems to be navigating suspect unproven coaching fairly well. It would be amazing to have a TE to bail out the rookie.

I find it odd that so many folks are unable to see a promising rookie struggling at times instead of "horrendous."

Looks pretty clear to me. The kid has some elite traits that just need a little more time in the oven to turn out just right.

If I were told these people were just young and lacking in perspective to be able to recognize what they're seeing I could believe it. However, I don't think that's the case, I think they're just trolling or stupid. Whichever it is I feel bad for them.

I mean, if we're being fair it's probably better phrased as a struggling rookie who has looked promising at times. He has shown some absurd flashes, but it's been more down than up thus far.

We all know too well that "being fair" in your personal alternate universe means "negative spin." 

But sure, feel free to play the half empty vs half full card. I still think "horrendous" is a laughable analysis either way.

Agreed. He’s reading his progressions faster and is more willing to throw it out if nothing is available. He still forces it a little too much but that’s what’s also teaching him how fast these defenses are. You can see his learning curve progress with every game.

I also appreciate his ability to escape the pocket when the pressure forces him out. Quite a few times, especially in the first two games, he maneuvered into open ground when other QBs of his experience level would have taken the sack. 

He good.

I'm not worried about him at all. He's the best QB this team has had in years and he's only played 3 games. I just don't know what all these message board experts expected with a rookie QB, a rookie Head Coach and a team that won ONE game last year. This team lacks talent in a lot of areas, but Trevor isn't one of them.

The best thing he can do is keep learning and getting better every game. So far, he's done that for me.
