Julius Thomas (merged)

Quote:JT shined all throughout OTAs and practices before he got hurt. It's not like the guy has been a bum since they day we signed him. We can find OTA all stars for a lot less money. He needs to step up big time. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:No. You keep getting killed on this board for being a troll-posturing idiot. Come on dude, hes lazt. They wouldn't put him out there if he had an injury that would hinder the team Quote:Come on dude, hes lazt. They wouldn't put him out there if he had an injury that would hinder the teamWhy not? Who's gonna draw more coverage away from 88 and 15? Lewis? Harbor? No. Thomas is on decoy duty. And maybe he is lazy. I Just think it's much more than only that. He looks so different running routes.
Another example why you build thru the draft. You trade and FA whiners need to learn football.
Quote:Another example why you build thru the draft. You trade and FA whiners need to learn football. Yep. So next time everyone clamors and complains as to why we didn't sign [enter big name here] just turn and look at Hugh Dougl.. I mean Julius Thomas.

Right. And next time someone says we need to build through the draft just turn and look at Blaine Gabb... I mean Marqise Lee. Works both ways. Maybe we should just give up entirely, lol.

It's not rocket science. There's a reason it's the prevailing philosophy throughout the league. History teaches. Of course you have to draft well, but that's the winning formula, undeniably. Fact. Free agency should be used as a stop gap and a bridge. Sign guys to fill roles while your draft picks season and develop and eventually take over. If you hit on one of these under the radar type FA's (like Marks) then its a win for you. If you go into free agency every offseason looking to come away with a big name 9 times out of 10 you're going to get bit in the [BLEEP]. Who was the prize free agent last year? Suh? How is that working out? If a once in a lifetime guy hits free agency such as a Manning or a Brees then sure, go out and swing for the fences. But for any other "big name" you're better off staying out of the bidding war.

With a username like yours, this is fitting. Do me a favor, list the Jags 10 best players then tell me how many came from FA. Let me help, the answer is 1. Quote:With a username like yours, this is fitting. Not necessarily true. The Jags hit on good handful of free agent targets in the early years. Not on too many of the big name guys though. Jimmy and Keenan were both brought in as under the radar FA's. So was Mike Peterson, and Leon Searcy (Searcy wasn't under the radar though, Coughlin paid an arm and a leg for him). We whiffed on the big name guys such as Bryce Paup, and guys like Hardy Nickerson, Kyle Brady, Jeff Lageman, and Carnell Lake never lived up to their expectations.

It would hold true then as well, but they did have a few hits. Look at the overall percentage, not good I promise. League-wide. We show less advertisements to registered users. On the team right now? Only Marks like you said. Building thru FA will only get you teams like the Eagles Dream Team, the Redskins of the past 2 decades, and serious cap trouble.

LOL. Did you guys forget about the cap space situation and the carry over we will be losing if we don't spend it?
JT was a no brainier. This team had to and still has to spend money. And JT still may pan out. Caldwell HAS been building through the draft primarily. Quote:LOL. Did you guys forget about the cap space situation and the carry over we will be losing if we don't spend it? Not disagreeing, just believe Caldwell is doing it right. Quote:Only its pretty much a given building thru free agency just doesn't work. By itself, no. Just like drafting by itself doesn't work. The Patriots signed 10 of their 22 current starters as free agents. (3 were UDFA) The Panthers signed 12 of their 22/23 starters. (2 UDFA) The difference between us and those two teams is that they are full of day 1 and 2 picks that play at a high level. We basically have 3 draft classes on our entire roster. Quote:By itself, no. Just like drafting by itself doesn't work.Ok, do this for the top 15 teams in the league, instead of the annoying pigeon pecking. Btw, udfa isn't FA. Quote:By itself, no. Just like drafting by itself doesn't work. Ask the Packers if that's true. |
