Lol. Stellar? The first throw was wide open down the middle of the field.


The second throw was very good - but I've seen bortles make that throw more than once before for completions.


Last throw was decent again but nothing spectacular.


I have been very tough on Bortles and personally think he sucks, but that twitter feed showed one nice throw. NFL qbs make those every now and then.

Here's three passes from the last two games when Bortles was actually working on his mechanics and the coaches didn't have their head up their butts:

 

Bortles to Walters for 15 yards. Pass outside the numbers to the honey hole with pressure in his face, right on the money.

 

Bortles to Koyack for 14 yards. Bullet pass down the middle. Beats the LB, nickel corner and safety with him looking off the the last one.

 

Bortles to Walters for 23 yards. To the honey hole again this time with an arching pass that was right in the bread basket of Walters.

Dude his mechanics are bad in all of those. Of course if you cherry pick every QB is going to have some nice throws as we've said. It's the inbetween all of those that is the problem. 

 

Stop looking at the results of highlights and look at the overall process. What he's doing in those plays isn't franchise caliber stuff.

Blake has never had a 3 throw stretch like that. The board would crash for the rest of the day if he did that in a game. 

Blake had a career day against Tennessee in 2015.  He threw for over 300 yards, 5tds, 0 ints, and a 134 rating.

His mechanics are better in those plays than they had been all of 2016. If a small improvement in mechanics yields those results, imagine what a large improvement can get. As for cherry picking; I'm not the one posting highlights from the preseason.

Those aren't highlights, they're the last 3 throws in a row we have seen Teddy make. Nothing since. It just so happens that they are good enough to be on a highlight reel, but nothing was picked through.

Please get a clue because he didn't go out there to California nearly as much last year because his idiot offensive coordinator. So don't assume his mechanics will go back to the same way this year because his mechanics was fine in 2015 if I recalled.

Good feet. Good hips. Doesn't matter if its a 1 step 3 step 5 step 7 step drop shotgun or under center. Good rotation is good rotation. It was never about where the arm was in his throwing motion but about where the feet and hips were. Bad footwork and hips lead to him using his natural athleticism to overcompensate with his arm to make up for the faults. Seems to me like Hackett or Olson or whomever was coaching him up was focusing on arm position the whole season and wasn't able to target his real issue. Which led to further faulty mechanics leading to worse and worse throws.

 

For me personally Bortles problems are off the field. From what I have personally seen and have heard he has some major issues other than alcohol, but someone posted earlier that all accounts are he is taking his time in SoCal as a business trip and using his time wisely. Getting out of Jacksonville is good for him and I hope he doesn't come back to town until it is time to report.

Better D (in ppg terms) and better run game most likely means a better Blake.

LOL... Ted was barely game managing when he broke.

 

One thing about the Jags (for better and worse) is they certainly didn't hold Blake back.  Ted boxed in that offense because of his limitations, so they boxed in Ted.  Heavily.  So much so they certainly didn't get much production out of him.

The only one of those I would want on this roster is Romo.  And that's provided we still had Blake as the backup because Tony is fragile and brittle.

 

If Blake can be coached up to being Alex Smith or Andy Dalton, I'm a happy camper.  That means playoffs.

He is working hard to improve his game what more can you ask of an athlete. I don't know how much he will improve his game and no one on this board knows either, but to make comments that he will be the same Blake we saw last year after a few games is pure speculation with no foundation in fact. So we have a quarterback that is spending his money and time in the  off season to be a better football player and we have to read brainless post from want to be physic's predicting Blake's future. Great fan support for your quarterback that is working he butt off to improve his play for the upcoming  season.  You could have had Johnny football football for your quarterback and yes I believe you may have had a much better chance of predicting his future.

Gossip doesn't require sources. My brother in laws sisters boyfriends aunt JoAnn said that and she knows a guy who lives down the road from some Jags staffers. It's true, believe me.
