I was just happy to be filling up my gas tank at Shell without hearing the speaker come on with good ole Gus saying Jag Wires.

Had the same feeling when I headed for baggage claim at JAX last week and didn't have to walk past a giant crazy-eyed Odrick ad. Fournette is silly fast....and it looks effortless....had a few nice catches out of the backfield in traffic as well Of the few that I recall.....two were little dumpoffs as the 3rd or 4th check down....One was a middle screen and another was kinda a wheel route. The thing that impressed me most was his ability to change direction after the catch.... I'm sure that if they had been in pads or game type scenarios they wouldn't have looked as nice with contact coming....but just his fluidity (is that a word?lol) was impressive. I'm getting more excited about what Fournette has to offer this team. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

The only one I really remember was on one of the dumpoffs Telvin was right there and probably would have a clean shot on him in a real time/game situation. I want to say that on the wheel route it was Jack....only reason was because I was surprised at how quick he got some distance on him after the catch.....Fournette is REALLY quick We show less advertisements to registered users. I seriously doubt BBINT has changed much... he will still throw 7 pick 6's this year. Everything else sounds believable though. Go Jags! Cant wait to draft a real QB.

I saw this link and immediately thought of this thread.
This confirms Crush's account of Fournette's receiving skills. http://lsu.247sports.com/Article/Leonard...-105567886 Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Yeah....I am not going to be able to make any of the training camps due to some Federal Regulations projects that hit my desk in the past few weeks....but I will be at the Tampa/Jax preseason game.
I think we will really see what the team has a week from Monday when they practice with NE....think that's a fantastic opportunity (07-28-2017, 01:26 PM)Bullseye Wrote: I saw this link and immediately thought of this thread. I also liked this: Quote: Along with making strong impressions with his receiving ability, Fournette also turned some eyes with his reporting weight just south of 225 pounds – nearly seven pounds less than his target weight of 231. Good first impressions. Gus 1st training camp reps last season: 53 Marrone's 1st training camp reps yesterday: 81 Marrone's 2nd training camp reps today: 102 Making men out of boys.

More on the overall differences between Marrone and Bradley...
From Ryan O Halloran... Ryan O'Halloran @ryanohalloran Last year, #Jaguars first practice included 53 snaps of 11-on-11; today it was 81. This was followed by 102 snaps of 11 on 11 yesterday. This observation from BCC (I know you guys hate this site, but...) "Training camp is as intense and as old-school a camp as you can get with the current CBA. Marrone could be heard yelling f-bombs and using colorful language to implore the players to learn the playbook. There was a lot more team drills, particularly 11-on-11, than done previously during a Gus Bradley training camp. Perhaps this was done to sharpen the team's chemistry and situational awareness, which lacked in previous years." https://www.bigcatcountry.com/2017/7/28/...bout-day-1 I remember telling people to consider that just because Marrone was in a subordinate position to Bradley on the coaching staff, it didn't mean he agreed with everything Bradley was doing. Thus far he appears quite different in methods than Bradley. Hopefully, this will translate into vastly superior results. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
I'm estatic to see the direction to which our team is headed. The mindset of Marrone mirrors Coughlin's in a good way. Marrone will have our team ready to play the 2017 schedule w/o hesitation.
BTW... Excellent article from the OP. NH3...

It's a little odd, I thought Gus was known for his high energy practices.
Anyone remember the first you he coached the Senior Bowl and all the praise he garnered? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
