Could the Jags/FO be looking for a trade?

#1

With the poor play on offense, are the Jags already looking at other back-up QB's on other teams for potential trades or even O-line men. Could we give up next years #1 or #2 or whatever combo now to get better. Dave is on as timer and technically so is Doug and TC. They need to win now. Do they get happy feet and jump with giving up future picks to say get a players like Jimmy G, or Colt McCoy, A.J McCarron? Our Guards are garbage as well.

There has to be something in play. They look as bad as they did last year with more talent. Maybe after this third preseason game they have a trade set-up and pull the trigger after a collapse. Hell the vikings traded for Bradford mid-preseason and got good play from him. Can the Jags pull of a trade with NE for Jimmy. Brady wants to play 3-4 more years, NE can draft another QB to groom behind Brady in 2018 with our first pick, plus whatever else we give up for Jimmy G.

Not trying to be chicken little here, but we need help bad.
LOVE THEM JAGUARS!

I'm starting to notice a trend here.. What we "think" the Jags should do, hardly ever translates to what The Jags "will" do..

I really doubt they will trade for anyone right now...I think they will save all their picks to use in the draft for young talent...They may trade a player or two for draft picks if there is any interest, but I seriously doubt they will turn loose of any draft picks...There are better QBs to be found in the draft than what would be abailable to trade for and the same goes for OL...

We would be more likely to pick up a free agent QB than trade at this point. Even with a competent QB this year, we were realistically hoping for 8 wins, so it wouldn't be worth giving up picks at this point IMO.

The only way we trade for a QB is if it's a player for player trade. We're not going to give up valuable picks, when we'll be looking for a franchise QB in the next draft.

With the odd acquisitions recently of two RBs Jonathan Grimes and DeJuan Harris, it would seem that the Jags are setting up for the more likely trade scenario of either Chis Ivory or TJ Yeldon, or both.

Hundley for Yeldon and a 3rd. Get it done

The thought of trading Ivory or Yeldon has crossed my mind as well based on Fournette's presence and Ivory and Yeldon's respective value's rapidly vanishing.  I just don't know who would trade for either of them, especially Ivory who is 29 years old.

Only the Front Office.

We all think the Jags will lose--and they're pretty consistent in that.

This is an excellent idea and I think the Packers might even settle for a 4th rounder. Montgomery has "soft tissue" injury and they can't be confident he will have the durability to last a whole season. Their rookies (especially Williams) have looked good, but can't be considered reliable options to Montgomery. Trading Yeldon or Ivory and a 3rd or 4th rounder makes perfect sense. Will Hundley ever develop into a top 15 q.b. in the NFL? There's no way to know since his body of work is so limited. He has improved each pre-season with the Packers and looked pretty good yesterday against the Redskins throwing some accurate deep balls while going 9-10. Yes, it's pre-season and that doesn't mean a lot, but he might be the best option now considering the low price. Henne should still start the season since he knows the offense. If Henne falters, they'd have time to see what Hundley could do prior to the 2018 draft.

Maybe we can talk Romo out of retirement.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Don't think so. If the FO wanted a trade, they would've done it earlier. Henne it is.

Can the motto for your season be #WinToday while starting either of those guys?

No, but it wouldn't do much good to throw some valuable picks and such towards a trade for someone that'll have to learn our system at the last minute either.  Same thing goes for any lackluster FA we happen to sign.

It's much more than having to learn a system, guys you get in trade will be backup QB level guys by definition. The Jaguars aren't as good as some people here seem to think, giving up picks for another Henne won't help anything at all.

Tom's not a moron and he's here for the long haul, not to worry about what happens in his first year. The Jaguars won't be pulling any trades unless something completely bizarre happens and another team wants to trade their actual franchise level QB, and I just don't see that happening.

We could make a trade much like the Sam Bradford deal. But unless it's AJ McCarron or Jimmy G, there really isn't anybody worth investing picks in.

I'm sitting here like....when can Brandon Allen get a chance? What could be worse than 11 pick 6s and a 4-12 record?

Yeah, they've definitely reached that "full consistency" level folks were clamouring for years back.

They should be but they won't. They don't mind losing this season.
