Most likely start himself before Allen.

Week one at Texans, will be Bortles. Your wasting time with Chad, how quickly we forget chad was pulled for Bortles to start.

Actually,  comparing Henne 's throws to Blake's throws this preseason...Henne looked a lot better.  Tight spiral, mostly accurate,  hitting receivers in stride,  quick delivery.  He could give us a chance to win,  with a decent run game, and good defense. But honestly, at this point I don't really expect anything to go right for the Jags.

Henne's looked better in camp to from everything I've heard.  He's not a great QB and has limitations from a talent standpoint but even so, he seems like a better option than Bortles.  If the defense and Fournette is as good as people think they'll be, all we need is a game manager that *doesn't* have those ill-timed game-losing turnovers on a consistent basis.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

That was Bortles morphed into even worse trash.

And you realize how many pick sixes Bortles has thrown? Being in the league 3 years! The guy is not the answer and almost a 20 million dollar liability on top of it. Henne started like 2 years ago. There are a lot of upgraded players on the team since then. The Jags had no choice but to do this.

So you don't think Bortles can change after 3 years, but you think Henne can change after 10 years in the league? If you honestly believe his game is going to change after 10 years, well, I got some ocean front property in Kansas for sell.

And the downside of starting Henne in a preseason game would be......?

Where did I say there would be a downside to starting Henne in the "preseason"?

Nothing. Coughlin will do it for him by calling Episcopal and telling them to find a new head coach. Their current one is needed elsewhere.

Yeah, the better Allen plays the less playing time he will get

Honestly, if the FO operated like a normal team, that would be our best case scenario since then we would either be tied to give Allen a shot or trade for someone.

But because jaguars....
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

What's with the urge to hitch our wagon to Allen? Is it just because he's the only QB on the roster not named Bortles or Henne?

Trading is not likely to happen. If your starting QB isn't on the roster in late August, you're screwed, and trading away a high draft pick for a stopgap just means that someone else gets the fruit of your tank job. If Bortles truly is not the answer and Henne is starting simply because he's less bad than Bortles, I wouldn't complain about the team going into fire sale mode and offloading a few guys who are older, have a huge contract or are in line for a huge contract.

I'd just trot out Bortles and go for the 2-14 season. Henne will get this squad to 6-7 wins and miss out on the DARNOLD.

It just a show, when the official depth chart has Chad as starter and what ever after, then its ***official***

Keelan Cole went for 97 yards in the first preseason game. (Pass thrown by Henne).

Henne also has 2 TDs, with 0 int's. And he has lead us downfield and put up points. I think he has 8 incomplete passes in 2 games.

Meanwhile Bortles has lead us to 3 points in 2 games.

Am I the only one freaking out that if Bortles gets hurt tomorrow, we pay him $19 million next season to most likely ride the bench? I'm surprised we are even taking the chance given that the momentum seems to be squarely in Chad's favor at this point.

I am. That's a lot of money to be on the hook for. He's not even gonna be playing. His days as a Jag are over.

This is a good point. Also, playing Bortles tomorrow is very risky imo. He gets hurt, jags get screwed.

Stick a fork in Bortles, he's done. While I know that Henne is not the answer, at least the question of BB's viability as a starter is no longer open. We can now start moving forward for a QB solution. One door closes, another opens.

Oh, and the FO deserves a good spanking. Dave Caldwell is probably sweating bullets right now. He should.

6 wins. Gimme 6 wins.

You do realize Darnold is Bortles lite, right? For everything that you hate about Bortles, Darnold does worse.

The people on this message board....
