Browns are shopping Cam Erving (and Joe Haden)

I guess he's been a bit of a disappointment given that he's a former first-round selection.  But, he's played center, guard, and right tackle and is still on his rookie contract.  Depending on the asking price, we could do worse.

Yeah but how bad do you have to be for the Browns to want to get rid of you?

In general I agree, but the Browns actually brought in a lot of talent on the OL this offseason. Can't start everyone. Not saying hes a world beater but then again neither is AJ Cann or Omameh/Bowanko

Sure.  But, maybe they're just dumping contracts......I mean, Haden's certainly not bad.

I guess my thinking is that if we could trade a 6 or 7 for a guy that could maybe turn out to be no worse than a "quality backup" on the line, it might be worth doing so.  Either way, we're sort of in the beggers can't be choosers boat, it seems to me, in terms of OL.

I was only teasing ya'll. LOL. If he can play and the asking price is right. Go for it. It's not like our interior lineman are all that convincing outside of Linder at Center. I had a lot of hope for Omameh. He's let me down this pre-season.

One could say he's been very OmaMEH

Watching Cam Erving try to play LT during a preseason game made me think, yes, he might actually be worse than Omameh.

Erving is a turnstile. Avoid that guy.

Haden is trash. He's washed. My great grandpa Brandon Marshall killed him last week.

In Joe Haden's case, a low salary cap hit made now the perfect time to cut him. He was only guaranteed $4 million. The Browns don't want to finish rebuilding with a player who has missed a lot of games in recent years.

I agree with Caldrac on Cameron Erving. He is now playing his third position on the offensive line because of his own performance, not injuries to his teammates.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on a guy like Haden with our DB depth and health....wouldn't be a bad nickel imo if Colvin isn't healthy.

It is sad that Erving isn't an option for a team with as bad an OL as us lol

Yea I would def look at Haden, I know he's not a number 1 CB anymore but he can still help since he has a lot of experience

Bouye, Ramsey, Colvin, Haden and Patmen would be a great CB group

I could be okay with bringing him in to try him at guard, he is at no way ever going to be a quality tackle.
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

But that's the thing.

What's a 4th CB worth to you?

Based upon what I've seen and read, Haden is close to finished.  But due to salary and experience and resume, he may command a higher salary than the typical 4th CB.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Yeah I wouldn't pay him any near what he was set to make...
And apparently Cleveland wanted him to take a pay cut and he wasn't down with it...

So he probably wants close to 4 mil per year....
and would probably take less for a team like the Pack or Pats...

At that rate I'd say no thanks... but for 1.5 mil + incentives... he'd be worth it.
Also... if Colvin is unavailable, Haden would be CB3 not 4

Darius Slay has said on a number of occasion that Joe Haden is the CB that he looked up to.  Both played in the SEC.  Ironically,  Slay's new teammate,  CB Teez Tabor,  has many similarities in his game that Joe Haden had.  Not just the UF connection.

His feet look like he's wadding thru wet concrete.

The Steelers were quick to schedule a visit with Haden.
