Prior to last year Florida had not been hit with a hurricane for 11 straight years. Well last year HolsterHusto decided to buy a house and now here they come left and right...

They couldn't get their local reports right, so we should panic now since one model has the eye coming right over Jacksonville when 2 days ago the majority were saying most models had it turning north and possibly hitting the Carolinas or staying in the Atlantic. They were also prediction g it would remain a Cat 4 all week and it was just upgraded to a Cat 5 this morning. They have no idea, but amping up the drama makes for good ratings. Exactly. You've got a lot of retailers advertising on these stations. They're getting a nice bump in sales any time the talking heads on TV are telling people to buy supplies and be prepared. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
My dad made a normal weekly trip to Bjs today...they told him people were standing in line at the door when they opened to get their storm supplies.

This alarming weather report brought to you by Gate Petroleum, Winn Dixie, and Home Depot. Meh, it's not like the stuff that is bought won't be used. So they get a nice bump this week and the next two a lull. It all works out for the most part.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening. One of my best friend's son works for Publix in Tallahassee. He just texted me to say they've been sporadically out of bottled water, and as they're getting new supplies in they're blowing through a pallet every few minutes. Never argue with idiots. This might be a bad one guys. Some models are showing nobody in Florida is safe.

I did my normal annual routine a few weeks back and pulled out my 2 generators and ran them each through a tank of fuel with a load on them, just to make sure that they are ready. We routinely have plenty of bottled water on hand, though we might pick up a little extra if the forecast models change over the next couple of days.
At this point, I wouldn't be all that concerned unless I lived in South Florida. Here is the latest track from NOAA. ![]() There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
