Tiger was shot and killed by police. It apparently was being transported from Sarasota to Tennessee and escaped in Georgia.

First the path ran up the east coast of Florida. When Irma continued west, all tracks showed an immediate turn to the right, but now through the center of Florida. Still further west, all tracks show an immediate turn to the right, now along the west coast of Florida. At some point they might have to admit Irma is not turning to the right. I see a recent little wobble toward the north, but it looks to this ignorant observer that Irma is traveling almost due west. If the latest forecast model is going to be true, that turn needs to happen now or soon. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
The great thing about storms is that they do exactly what you don't want them to do at the exact point at which you'd really rather they not do it.
I'll be hopping in the car shortly and heading to Alabama for a few days. You guys stay safe, although I think Jacksonville has once again dodged a bullet here.
If you don't have one already. For the next month there will be brand new unopened generators all over Craigslist for dirt cheap.

ABC interrupted the Sooners/Buckeyes game twice in the first half. I was thinking about what people were posting here about Tampa and Jacksonville when I saw the path map. It is showing Irma going up the west coast including Fort Myers and Tampa, sparing the northeast (Jacksonville and St. Augustine). But later in the break, northeast Florida was all red as the meteorologist talked about flooding. It doesn't make sense. Counties under hurricane warnings include but are not limited to Putnam, Alachua, Union, and Suwanee. A flash flood warning is issued in some counties including Alachua until 10:00 Monday. I will get hit between Sunday night and Monday morning - expected to be Monday at 2:00 a.m.

That's why the movement speed slowed down. To expand on Jagwired's post. There's and app called Webcams that has Miami and Tampa live cams It's crazy to see how strong the winds are in Key West even though it's still over 100 miles away

The entire peninsula is under a hurricane warning because the dang thing is so big it's going to affect the entire area. Key West is already dealing with tropical storm force winds and it's over 100 miles away from the hurricane according to another poster.

So yeah JDub.... ALL of FL is going to be pretty bad. You will have Tropical Storm strength everywhere and potentially even hurricane force everywhere.

With winds blasting over 150 would a umbrella be a dumb idea. Cause will pick both the person and umbrella up? Just a serious question.

I hope and pray everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma remains safe. I can't recall a larger storm than this one.
Same here. Many friends and family out there. Some couldn't leave due to insane traffic.

Stores, especially big box stores should have no return policies on generators purchased during hurricane season, or at least a ridiculous restock fee that prevents these jerks from returning them after dodging a storm.

What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
You know what is so annoying about these weather forecasts?
There are no power outage predictions. They said many people in South Florida will be out of power for days or weeks but not if that is likely to happen north of Orlando. Mom is just preparing for the gas shortage and possible power outage like she did before Hurricane Matthew. |
