I like morale victories ..... like getting a few 1st downs when being down 24 points.  It shows heart and effort.

I'm wondering if it has EVER happened in a 37-0 blowout.

Not to my knowledge but back in the 1980s when teams hated each other, I remember Sam Wyche, then coach of the Bengals, ordered an on sides kick when they were beating then division rivals Houston Oilers 61-7.

The only thing bush league was the Ravens lack of preparation.

Marrone is 3-2 as Jags head coach. The three wins were blowouts against respected teams - Titans (last year), Texans (on the road) and the Ravens.
Impressive.

Funny thing is it was Harbaugh who did it:

Quote: The Baltimore Ravens ran a fake field goal despite leading 41-17 in the third quarter of last Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders.

Great find. Harbaugh had "no reaction" to the Jaguars' fake punt, and CB Jimmy Smith summed it up quite nicely:

Quote:It's not my job to care about what they run. We're supposed to stop it. If they wanted to do it, that's what they do. We'd do it. I'm sure we would. I can't be mad at it.

Yep, there's been a lot of chatter that Harbaugh has irked more than a few coaches over the years by pulling moves like that.

In regards to Marrone: "I'm greedy"

It's refreshing to actually complain about things like running up the score in wins. I would gladly do that all year

Compare that to the things we were venting about when Gus was here.

Show me where he did it up 37-0 with 25 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. And even if that did happen, I'd call [BLEEP] too.

Harbaugh ran a fake Field Goal vs the Raiders a couple years ago while they were up 41-17 in the 3rd quarter.

If anybody is upset, Harbaugh should be the very last guy.

I'm not a huge fan of running up the score, but I'm not against it. As the old saying goes... If you don't want them to score, stop them.

Had the tables been turned, Harbaugh probably would have done the same thing.

Bush league or not, the team ran the play based on the look they got from the Ravens.  For a team that's trying to learn how to win games, sometimes you have to set aside polite protocol and play the hand you're dealt.  I've got no problem with it.  This isn't golf or tennis where protocol matters.

From what I gather, it was game planned, and when they went all in on the block, the play presented itself.  Not even a true from the sideline "called play"

What are the players supposed to do?  Wait to see if the punt gets blocked, or run the play against it?

Not that Marrone is going to back off that it was his call.

I'm with FBT on this one. For too many years we were the team that had our throats stepped on. I like Marone's approach. To hell with letting up on the gas and just protecting a lead.... Punch em in the gut and kick em in the teeth !! Smash mouth football is back in Jax!

Agreed. People forget.  Doug was a really good coach back in Buffalo as well.

This is the nature of the NFL, Don't like it? Stop us.... Marrone and co. was making a statement to other teams. I actually loved it! I laughed all the way through that play.
